JOB PURPOSE: To oversee, control and assign the day-to-day activities of the Cemetery Workers assigned
and ensuring the effective development and maintenance of all designated areas within the cemeteries.

Coordination of Cemetery Activities: Provide direction, set priorities and follows-up on Cemetery Worker
activities • Delegate daily work to Cemetery Workers • Conduct site and equipment inspections • Manage
the equipment stock and escalate repairs/ maintenance requests • Implement, educate on and supervise
safety standards, procedures and practices • Assist in required administrative duties and report writing

  • Delegate and dispatch vehicles and maintenance teams in respect of daily work schedules • Perform
    driver duties as required • Attend to customer queries • Assist in cemetery activities as and when required
  • Develop effective communication strategies with relevant stakeholders and staff members • Monitor
    monthly expenditure and provide reports thereof • Collate and submit information as and when required.
    Supervisory Responsibilities: Detect and report fraudulent transactions • Monitor all HR related stats
    on a daily basis (absenteeism, sick leave, time and attendance, overtime, misconduct, lost time and injury
    rate) • Supervise the performance, grievance and disciplinary issues of staff, escalating to Managers
    where necessary • Coordinate with administration to plan staff training • Respond to public enquires and
    escalate accordingly.
    Optimises Individual and Team Performance: Performance Management • Actively participates and
    manages own performance levels • Mentor and support the learning and development of team members
  • Contribute to team effectiveness and team cohesion.
    SHEQ, Security Monitoring and Risk: Provide inputs for the development/ review of SOPs for the
    Cemeteries Department • Implement and monitor JCPZ safety, health, environmental and security policies
    and procedures • Implement identified risk mitigation measures.

  • MINIMUM JOB REQUIREMENTS: Grade 12 or equivalent (NQF level 4) • Valid Driver’s Licence
  • 5 years’ experience in groundskeeping role or similar • Demonstrated experience in a supervisory role
    is an advantage.
