Position Purpose

Responsible for maintaining and supporting existing configurations on the SAP ERP system including the following modules
Finance
Plant Maintenance
Project Systems
Sales and Distribution
Material Management
Portfolio Management
Governance, Risk and Compliance
Budgeting and Planning
Asset Management

To identify remedial actions to fix/update system configurations in the production environment.

To provide thought leadership and direction in the optimisation of SAP ERP modules.

To lead a team of junior
staff in maintaining and supporting production systems. 

Position Outputs

• Provide deep knowledge and expertise on the specific SAP IM/PS module that is being supported in the production systems. • Analyse existing and new business requirements to support SAP IM/PS applications in the production environment. • Investigate, propose and design technical solutions to address business requirements. • Document functional and technical specifications to address business requirements. • Develop and compile test plans for new business solutions proposed on the SAP IM/PS ERP system. • Conduct extensive testing with business counterparts for new solutions proposed and oversee the implementation of such solutions. • Consult with external vendors as part of the maintenance and support process to identify solutions to complex business problems.
• Have a full understanding of change control lifecycles and adhere to the prescripts and requirements of the change control process. • Collaborates with Operating Divisions in providing innovative solutions to systems that are in the production environment. • Leads a team of external staff and 3rd party service providers in providing both technical and functional support for SAP IM/PS systems in the production environment. • Responsible for ensuring skills transfer take place to junior staff as well as ensuring where applicable skill is transferred from external staff to Transnet employees.

Qualifications and Experience

Qualifications, Experience & Inherent Job Requirements A Bachelors Degree or equivalent in an Information Technology related discipline is required. Minimum of 5 years’ experience working in IT product development and support functions. Minimum of 5 years experience Standard Job Requirements • Driver’s license code 08 • Travel as required and approved

Position Purpose

Conduct business requirement analysis project in Operational Divisions to detect critical process deficiencies and to recommend solutions to improve the use of information technology, supporting business information requirements.

Plan and execute the development, maintenance and on-going refinement of the enterprise-wide Business architecture, accommodating the complexities of Transnet business Interact with Operational Division stakeholders to develop Business solutions to meet business needs.

Position Outputs

• Conduct analysis of current business environments to identify critical deficiencies and to develop solutions for the improved use of information technology, to support the business’s information requirements using the following techniques: • Workshops • Method/work studies • Six sigma • Lean principles • Simulation models • ARIS and Visio etc.
1. Conduct business requirements analysis by engaging with the respective business stakeholders from all Operational Divisions 2. Map end-to-end business process flows on ARIS and Visio 3. Define business information flows and landscapes 4. Analyse information sources, purpose, information consolidation and manipulation, identify data or information shortcomings or deficiencies to gain understanding of where and how information is being used, consolidated and manipulated.
5. Conduct gap analysis to identify deficiencies or problems in the data and information to enable effective solutions to the identified deficiencies. 6. Identify and analyse business drivers and business change drivers to determine business information solutions, information technology requirements and to develop Business architecture requirements.
7. Develop rigorous models for how the data is to be structured and used to ensure that transaction processing is efficient and effective and that information to support decision-making is readily available. Ensure that these information models are flexible enough to easily adjust to meet changing business needs.
8. Engage with business project owners to ensure projects fit enterprise information architecture and to determine the necessity of modifications to the application, to accommodate new information requirements or vice versa 9. Define the ways in which data and information are to be used and produced in the organisation, ensuring that information governance and architecture policy and structures are not compromised

Qualifications and Experience

• A 4 year Industrial Engineering degree is a pre-requisite. • 8 years’ experience in Business process improvement projects in Operational and/or Operational Support business environments
