Key Customers

Head of Finance, Shared Services Teams, Internal and External Auditors, MCSA Group reporting teams, MCSA Business, Tax Centre of Excellence

Purpose of the Position:

  • Lead and inspire a diverse team of finance professionals to provide effective business partnering services to Business Unit Execs.
  • Responsible for the overall function of Reporting; including Financial reporting, financial planning and analysis, tax management and execute on key projects.

Key Performance Objectives/Tasks

Reporting and analysis

  • § Manage the MCSA consolidation and reporting process in SAP BPC (ERP system) & HFM (Reporting system).
  • § Perform the month end, interim, hard-close and year-end requirements for MCSA within deadlines
  • o Track financial results against budget and reforecast, assess & report on variances
  • o Produce commentary to explain variances to above scenarios
  • o Compile presentations to explain financial results
  • o Responsible for the notes and commentary to External Reporting and Statutory Financials
  • o Responsible for review of AFS before sign off by directors
  • o Responsible for support of BBBEE for legal entities
  • o Responsible for preparing information that will be sent to the Regulators
  • o Consult with the Shared Services Central Accounting team to prepare and assist with internal and statutory audits
  • o Responsible for ensuring the accounting records correctly reflect the results of the business unit’s financial performance, IS, BS & CF
  • § Management of Financial Planning and Analysis for Budget and 24 month rolling forecast
  • o Management and mentoring of the team responsible for preparation of monthly rolling forecasts
  • o Consolidate the Budget and 24 month rolling forecasts from the team
  • o Review of rolling forecasts and variance analysis monthly.
  • § Management of Treasury and cash flow forecasting
  • o Review of monthly cash flow forecasts and assessment of variances and trends
  • o Consolidate the treasury and cash flow forecasts from the team
  • o Develop and implement improved internal processes for preparation of monthly cash flow forecasts
  • o Disaggregation and evaluation of the drivers of variances in cash flow forecasts and driving improvement in accuracy of cash flow forecasting. This is applicable divisionally and in aggregate
  • o Tracking of cash flow on an ongoing basis to enable determination of projections and current position in real time.
  • § Perform strategic and ad hoc analysis as determined by the Head of Finance, including scenario building and implications of strategic alternatives that will impact the bottom line.
  • § Draft Financial accounting position papers on the accounting treatment of issues noted in monthly and external audit reporting processes.
  • § Attend monthly financial reviews with all business units to identify and drive correction of any issues noted, including providing advice on implementation of required controls.
  • § Lead the external audit process to ensure reporting timelines are met and all audit complexities are resolved and cleared within set timelines.
  • § Identify and query tax liability positions and engage specialist Tax team as necessary to reflect accurate provisions and accruals for complex tax positions across MCSA legal entities, including effective transfer pricing execution.
  • Project Management
  • § Manage team members to create a motivated, energized and empowered culture and ensure effective delivery of business unit objectives.
  • § Develop a high performing team by embedding formal performance development, coaching, mentoring and knowledge sharing.
  • § Create and drive a culture of continuous improvement to elevate the performance of the finance function
  • § Develop strong working relationships with direct team and in-country finance teams to leverage, persuade and influence delivery and ensure responsiveness and compliance to Group timelines and requests
  • § Adapt and learn by demonstrating resilience and creativity in uncertain and complex circumstances
  • § Provide clarity to team to navigate competing demands and changing priorities
  • § Identify development needs for the team and ensure that identified training requirements are budgeted for and executed.
  • § Interview and recruit new members of the team, including determining appropriate compensation levels with input from HR
  • § Create effective workforce and recruitment demand plans to ensure that current and future business requirements can be met.

Qualifications

  • Must be a CA (SA)

Experience / Skills

  • 6 years’ experience in a Financial Accounting Reporting role, of which at least 4 years should be in leadership role
  • Demonstrable experience in developing a high performing and independent team
  • Experience working in multinational listed group
  • Budget and forecast consolidation, analysis, and presentation
  • Sound SAP and HFM systems knowledge and experience
  • Intercompany accounting experience
  • Sound knowledge of taxation rules
