Introductory paragraph
The South African Tuberculosis Vaccine Initiative (SATVI), located within the Institute of Infectious Disease and Molecular Medicine, invites applications from suitably qualified candidates for a 12-month contract as a Research Nurse. The position is based at the SATVI Project Office in Worcester and this office works on projects to determine Tuberculosis infection and disease status in study populations.

Requirements for the job:

• 4-year Degree / Diploma in Nursing
• At least one to two years’ experience in working in the health or research sector
• Current registration with the South African Nursing Council (SANC)
• Valid Driver’s License (EB/C) and actively driving

The following will be advantageous:

• Experience in working in the clinical research sector
• Experience & working knowledge of Good Clinical Practice
• Good record keeping skills and experience
• Computer Literate and proficient in working on Microsoft Office
• Decision-making & problem-solving skills
• Knowledge of and willing to relocate to the Cape Winelands East region
• Able to adapt to change effectively
• Good Interpersonal Skills
• Fluency in English and either Afrikaans and Xhosa
• Good Communication skills
• Experience in Infant, adolescent and adult phlebotomy

The annual cost of employment, including benefits (where applicable), is between R248,259.00 – R462,822.00.
