Introduction

The Engineering Council of South Africa (ECSA) is a statutory body charged with the mandate to regulate the engineering profession in accordance with the Engineering Profession Act 46 of 2000.

Position Summary: The position Graphic Designer has become available.The primary purpose of the role is to oversee the process of defining requirements, visualising and creating graphics including illustrations, logos, layouts and photos to ensure a single corporate identity.

The Graphic designer will support all marketing and communication efforts of the organisation through creating visually captivating designs for the use on internal and external platforms including but not limited to the website, email, social media platforms, media outlets, as well as at events. The successful candidate will report to the Manager: Stakeholder Relations and Marketing

Duties & Responsibilities

Corporate Design Support

Develop concepts, graphics, and layouts for product illustrations, organisation logos, posters, social media posts; newsletters, websites, and marketing campaigns and all internal documentation and publications;
Design and layout of the ECSA annual report;
Design and layout quarterly external and internal newsletters;
Design company collateral including but not limited to organisational templates;
Manage the design of all brochures to support the different organisational functions;
Develop Corporate Identity Manual for the organisation;

Maintain corporate identity and ensure brand consistency across all design work;
Advise on visual strategies to reach target audiences through various digital platforms and print media;
Create compelling visual representations of campaign related messages;

Determine the message the design should convey and ensure alignment with brand guidelines;
Create engaging images, graphics, and animations that identify a product or communicate a message.

Liaison and Relationship Building

Collaborate with external printers, web developers, and other service providers to ensure deadlines are met and materials meet quality standards;
Support ECSA Business Units within the organisation with their design needs.

Project Management

Manage multiple design projects simultaneously, ensuring timely completion and meeting client expectations;
Continuously track project progress, provide updates to relevant stakeholders, and adjust priorities as needed;
Stay up to date with industry trends, best practices, and emerging technologies to enhance design work and stay competitive in the market;
Be flexible in the role with exposure to different aspects of the Marketing Business Unit;
Maintain repository of all design work.

Desired Experience & Qualification

Matric;
A National Diploma/Degree in Graphic Art/Design or any related creative field.
5-7 Years experience in graphic design;
Experience supervising junior graphic designers will be advantageous;
Computer literacy in MS Office;
Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, InDesign, Photoshop);
Experience with User Research, usability testing, and design thinking methodologies;
More than 2 years’ experience in UI/UX;
Strong understanding of typography, colour theory, and layout principles;
Communication skills;
Problem solving skills;
Design skill;
Project Management skills.
