Introduction

Two vacancies exist for Porters based at Life Empangeni Private Hospital reporting to the Reception Supervisor.

The successful candidate will be part of a professional team that is continuously striving for the highest standards of quality in patient care.

Critical Outputs

• Transport patients from reception to wards and vice versa.
• Transport patients from wards to doctor’s rooms and x-ray.
• Check trolleys for cleanliness and whether in need of repairs (maintain in good working condition)
• Assist in the making work related photocopies.
• Assist with ad-hoc duties as and when required by the Reception Supervisor during busier periods.
• Deliver correspondence to doctor’s as and when required.
• Provide assistance to the nursing staff with the movement of patients in a safe, professional and friendly manner.
• Provide quality service at all times.
• General administrative functions as requested.
• Assist the filing clerk with filing when on leave/sick.
• Assist pharmacy with transport of prescriptions to the ward and patient files to reception.

Requirements

• Grade 12 or equivalent
• Working experience in the hospital environment advantageous
• Experience in dealing with people
• Knowledge of hospital procedures
• Team player
• Must be willing to work according to the flexi-hour system including night duty
• Position includes working shifts
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills
• Reliable and trustworthy
• Ability to work independently and use initiative to achieve set objectives
