Introduction
A vacancy has arisen for a Housekeeper at Life Nkanyisa Algoa Frail Care Centre, Mission Road, Bethelsdorp, Gqeberha.
The candidate will be reporting to the Hospital Manager and will be responsible for assisting in maintaining a safe and clean working environment for patients and staff.
To support the nutritional needs of patients by overseeing the ordering and delivering of catering supplies and meals, and to ensure that stocks and supplies are kept at adequate levels.
Critical Outputs
- Recruiting, managing subordinates and their performance
- Training & Development
- Kronos/payroll
- BLC and Consumables stock control
- BLC-Monthly stock count, issue sheet, balances
- Consumables – monthly procurement, issues to the wards
- Chemicals – ensure that MSDS sheet is compliant, proper storage
- Welfare – patient toiletries, grooming equipment, ensure hair cutting schedule
- Compliance to regulation – SANS 1146
- Managing Infection and prevention control in the laundry and units
- Machinery & equipment management
- Ensure good food/presentation
- Ensure facility cleanliness
- Management of cutlery, contracts (cleaning, catering, security), stock control, provision of consumables
- Monitoring of the laundry and chemicals
- Client satisfaction – Units and Central Laundry
- Audits – compliance to all audits
- Inspection – daily walkabouts
- Procurement, mending processes, condemning of old linen, adequate distribution of linen to wards, BLC
- Stock management
Requirements
- National Senior Certificate or equivalent, Grade 12
- Formal qualification in housekeeping
- 5 Years’ experience in housekeeping
- Relevant experience to meet the critical outputs
- Proven leadership and people management skills would be an advantage
- Basic understanding of labour legislation, financial and chain management principles
- Understanding of the private healthcare industry, its challenges and role players would be an advantage
- Computer proficiency is critical (MS Word, Excel, and Power Point)
- Understanding of private healthcare private industry especially hospital environment
- Driver’s licence
