Job Purpose | Plans and directs the procedures, operations and critical Communications and public relations outcomes associated with the Communications Unit and support to the organisation. |
Key Responsibility Areas | Formulates, aligns and implements critical objectives encompassed in approved long and short-term plans to guide the functioning and priorities of the Communications functionality. • Directs and controls the Key Performance Indicators and outcomes of personnel based in the Communications Unit • Prepares capital/ operating estimates and controls expenditure against the approved budget allocations. • Directs and controls the technical and procedural requirements associated with the Communications functionality. • Directs and controls the procedural administrative and reporting requirements/deadlines associated with the functioning of the Unit. • Directs the establishment of and compliance to communications procedures to ensure the role of the Unit is executed in an organized and methodical manner. • Directs and controls the strategic communications advisory services to the Leadership to ensure communication issues are considered in the decision-making process, to ensure the • Leadership is projected in line with the communication objective of Council |

Preferred Requirements | • Postgraduate qualification (NQF Level 8) in Marketing or Communications or Public Relations or Journalism or any other related and equivalent qualification. • 10 years relevant experience of which 4 years must be at Senior Management level Special Conditions: • Required to be available after hours for consultation and to respond to incidents in the event that the circumstances require it. • This post requires the incumbent to be available at short notice during all hours to respond to urgent Municipal business. |
