About the Role

To deliver innovative, original, quality and entertaining written content and copy that aligns with the Market Theatre Foundation’s brand voice and that captivates the targeted audience.

Content Creations

  • Generate and quality control creative and original content for a variety of platforms, including but not limited to blog posts, social media, website copy, email campaigns, and video scripts.
  • Translate project descriptions and concepts into compelling words.
  • Write and develop media or press releases.
  • Develop a captivating narrative that resonates with our target audience and effectively communicates our brand message.
  • Review and edit content to ensure clarity, coherence, and adherence to brand guidelines.
  • Conduct thorough proofreading across a variety of platforms and promotional copy to eliminate errors and ensure the highest quality of written material.

Research and Idea Generations

  • Stay abreast with industry trends, market changes, and relevant topics to ensure content is timely and relevant.
  • Collaborate with the four business units to brainstorm and develop fresh ideas for campaigns and projects.
  • Demonstrate flexibility in writing styles to suit different target audiences and platforms across a range of varied projects.
  • Quickly adapt to changes in project scope or requirements while maintaining creativity and quality.

Collaboration

  • Work closely with the marketing, design, and other teams to align content with the overall Brand and Communications strategies and objectives.
  • Incorporate feedback and collaborate with team members to enhance the impact of promoting creative work.
  • Manage multiple projects simultaneously, ensuring deadlines are met and deliverables are of the highest standard.
  • Keep internal stakeholders informed about project progress and address any challenges that may arise.

Internal and External Newsletters

Research and write foundation stories for The Market Buzz

work hand in hand with Digital Communications Officer to create compelling written articles that can be shared across all social media platforms and websites.

Collaborate with design team to create Cover Page for The Market Buzz

Production Programmes

Put together programme material and proof read

Work with design team to design the content in the programme and update staff lists

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS, EXPERIENCE

EDUCATION

  • Bachelor’s degree in English, Media Studies, Journalism, Communications, or a related field.
  • Proven experience as a Copy Editor, Creative Writer, Copywriter, or similar role.

Advantageous: Hons Degree.

EXPERIENCE

  • 3-5 years of journalism, copywriter.

DIGITAL COMMUNICATIONS OFFICER

Salary R26 590,83 CTC (Global Grade 9)

Purpose
To ensure the successful running of digital channels including but not limited to database and social media campaigns that create new customer leads, promote the brand and its products, and contribute to overall company growth.

Stakeholder Relations

  • Maintaining and updating the existing customer database
  • Increasing the customer database through innovative means
  • Continuously work through the existing data to ensure it is up-to-date.
  • Review all returns post a mailing to make any corrections necessary.
  • When and if a membership scheme is launched, take responsibility for the management of the membership s scheme.
  • Provide input on SMS and advert texts.
  • Distribution of SMSs and bulk email for all productions and events emails for all productions and events
  • Respond to queries from external stakeholders.

Create and Coordinate Internal and External Newsletters

  • Writing and compilation of internal and external newsletters
  • Develop, design, and produce corporate newsletters and other promotional direct mail items as directed by the marketing plan.
  • Analyse consumer behaviours and market trends, adjusting email and advertising campaigns based on current knowledge.

Content generation and coordinating the content generation and functionality of the MTF website

  • Coordinating the content generation and functionality of the Market Theatre website including photo uploads and press-related stories to enhance the time spent on the site.
  • Ensure that all production information, event information, exhibition, readings and all other events are updated on the website.
  • Ensure all information submitted is correct.
  • Ensure that website is maintained always.
  • Prepare analytics summaries once a month.
  • Ensure links to forms are functional.
  • Advise webmaster on SEO compliant website.

Social Media Strategy

  • Create, implement, and manage comprehensive social media strategies for the Market Theatre
  • Research into new and alternative ways to leverage social media activities and experiment with these.
  • Monitor trends in social media, social media tools, applications and channels and apply that research.
  • Measure and report on the impact of social media on the overall marketing efforts.
  • Blogging, content generation, engagement, social networking (for productions and events), community development projects and management of the digital space for the Market Theatre
  • Created strategic plans to achieve engagement and conversions across social media platforms and digital ads.
  • Measure and report on digital marketing campaign performance, gained insights and compared results against goals to identify strengths and weaknesses.
  • Evaluate and enhanced content of online pages, blog posts and social media platforms.
  • Collaborate with sales and marketing leaders to devise social media campaigns and coordinate with advertising.
  • Manage social media accounts by composing content, engaging with followers in comments, monitoring activities and researching trends.
  • Conceptualize and Produce Beyond the Story for YouTube channel.

Budgeting and Reporting

  • Utilising budget efficiently without incurring overspending as allocated by Line Manager
  • Manage social media expenses on Market Theatre credit. Give monthly reports of usage.

PUBLICIST

Salary R32 804,91 CTC per month (Global Grade 10)

About the Role

Responsible for managing media relations and publicity to generate as much positive coverage for Market Theatre Foundation productions and key projects in the print and electronic media as possible. Runs promotional campaigns to raise awareness of the Market Theatre Foundation’s shows and events to maximize sales and attendance.

Press Releases

  • Writing of press releases based on given production/project briefs.
  • Disseminate the press release to targeted media houses.
  • Putting together an electronic press kit ready for distribution to targeted media houses.

Press Coverage

  • Develop and maintain a productive relationship with all Arts journalists from Gauteng and with National media as needed.
  • Generate and manage press coverage on behalf of the organization.
  • Pitching ideas for stories to journalists, directors, and producers.
  • Scheduling TV and press interviews with media and internal stakeholders.
  • Ensuring media receives press material timeously.
  • Tracking media coverage for the Market Theatre Foundation.

Photo shoots

  • Plan and organize pre-publicity shoots for productions.
  • Source and contract photographers for publicity shoots.
  • Distribute the images to key Brand and Communications team for external use.
  • Caption and distribute images to media.
  • Archive the images for future use.

Press Events

  • Developing media lists as per event demand.
  • Prepare media and stakeholder lists for opening nights.
  • Manage dissemination of invites and RSVPs.
  • Manage RSVP tables and guests at the events.

Reporting

  • Prepare publicity reports for Departmental Heads.
  • Prepare publicity expenditure reports for the Brand and Communications Manager.
