DEPARTMENT: SUPPLY CHAIN (STORES, LOGISTICS & PROCUREMENT)

Nature of employment: Limited duration contract for Gamsberg project (estimated duration: 4 years)

Reports to: Store Superintendent

Job purpose: Supervise designated section of the Stores function on site. Administer an efficient system
for storekeeping by overseeing the receipt, coordination and safekeeping of goods dispatched through
the stores. Ensure that all policies and procedures related to stock and stores are implemented and
adhered to, that approved stock budgets and levels are observed and that all goods are stored and
transported in accordance with applicable Health, Safety and Environmental Regulations, Policies and
Procedures.

Key performance areas:

  1. Stock control and issuing
  • Receiving, packing and unpacking of stock. Signing of P.O.D.s
  • Assistance in controlling of stock.
  • Perform scheduled & ad-hoc stock takes.
  • Report all stock shortages to Stores Controller immediately
  • Adhere to all applicable policies and procedures during stock receipt and issuing.
  1. Administration and housekeeping:
  • Maintain good housekeeping practices internal and externally to the warehouse area.
  • Ensure that all stock items are marked.
  • Ensure all stock is allocated to the correct bin locations – Ensure to uphold a clean and tidy
    warehouse – Initiate frequent housekeeping activities.
  • Ensure adherence to Co & Client SHEQ policies & procedures (ensuring the safety of self and
    colleagues all the time)
  • Daily JSA’s for all activities in store
  • Toolbox talks
  • Personal protective equipment (PPE) is used and maintained according to safety regulations.
  • Repairable Stock Items (Starters, Alternators, Cylinders, Prop shafts, etc.) returned to
    preferred suppliers for strip and quote.
  • Gate release management in conjunction with the management approval.
  • Identify redundant stock and return to suppliers for credit where possible.
  • Manage and administer warehouse transfers.
  1. Risk management and continuous improvement:
  • Implement security systems and control mechanisms in Stores section, in conjunction with
    Stores Superintendent to reduce risk and/or avoid potential stock losses as result of theft.
  • Initiate investigations if losses are experienced due to potential theft and implement improved
    risk management measures to minimize the possibility of future re-occurrence.
  • Identify and propose cost-saving opportunities and initiatives in conjunction with the Stores
    Superintendent and Supply Chain Manager.
  • Update Stores Superintendent on work progress and result of defects observed inspections
    carried out pertaining to applicable field of operation.
  1. Supervisory/HR Responsibilities
  • Act as mentor and advisor to subordinates, identify and motivate relevant training and
    development initiatives.
  • Manage time & attendance, sick leave and leave rosters for Dept. Ensure that overtime is
    planned, properly managed and pre-approved as per overtime procedure. Ensure 24/7
    continuation of stores function.
  • Monitor time spent by subordinates on the mine and ensure compliance with legal attendance
    parameters.
  • Manage discipline and initiate disciplinary action in line with applicable disciplinary
    procedures, where required.
  • Schedule and attend frequent caucus meetings to establish proper team communication and
    inform subordinates of all important matters.
  1. Legislative requirements Knowledge of:

  • Mine Health and Safety Act (MHSA).
  • Adherence to Sect 22 & 23 of the MHSA

Minimum Job requirements:

  • Grade 12, passed.
  • Diploma or Degree related to Stores & Procurement/ Warehousing/Logistics and Supply chain
    management or Accounting (Formal qualification preferred)
  • Must have at least 5 years’ related experience as Stores Controller.
  • Must have a valid Driver’s license.
  • Clean criminal record

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Must have excellent knowledge of heavy earthmoving equipment and parts with at least 3
    years related working experience in an opencast mining environmentExcellent computer skills and vast knowledge of related software programs (MS Office,

DEPARTMENT: ENGINEERINGNature of employment: Limited duration contract for Gamsberg project (estimated duration: 4 years)
Payroll category: Monthly salaried staff

Job purpose: Refurbish, service and repair of heavy Earthmoving Equipment (Hitachi EX Excavators,
CAT & Dressta Dozers, CAT Graders, Epiroc DM30 MkII & D65 Flexiroc Drill Rigs, ADT’s, etc.) in an
opencast mining application. Professional and timeous execution of all engineering work in accordance
to set procedures, SOP’s, quality standards and OEM specifications, to ensure that equipment availability
targets are met.

Key performance areas

  1. Equipment Availability
  • Prompt service and repairs to allocated equipment to ensure 85% availability is maintained.
  • Monitor availability, MTTR and MTBF statistics to ensure acceptable equipment performance
    against set targets. Assist Engineering Superintendent to develop and implement remedial
    action plans where required, to address underperformance.
  1. Services & Repairs
  • Plan and execute work in accordance with pre-determined schedules and to high professional
    standards.
  • Study and keep abreast of OEM manuals and specifications to ensure that all work is
    performed correctly.
  • Perform diagnostics and troubleshooting to identify problems and resolve engineering
    malfunctions on equipment.
  • Ensure that all maintenance is performed within OEM stipulated intervals and guidelines as
    applicable to machine type and model.
  • Attend to all breakdowns or equipment malfunctions/failures reported with urgency and
    continuously update the Engineering and Production Superintendents on repair progress and
    expected work completion timelines.
  • Conduct frequent over-inspections of work done by artisan assistants and servicemen to
    ensure that work is executed to high standards.
  • Ensure that no equipment leaves the workshop or repair area in a poor state and that
    lubricants were re-filled to appropriate levels before re-starting of equipment. (Avoid “dry
    starts” at all times)
  1. Health & Safety
  • Ensure that all activities are conducted in a safe and responsible manner and promote a safe
    work culture.
  • Ensure compliance with all client/company SOP’s, Policies, procedures, provisions and
    stipulations of the MHSA.
  1. Administration & Housekeeping
  • Ensure that all designated areas of work are neat and well kept.
  • Ensure that job cards are obtained and properly completed, signed off and submitted to the
    maintenance administration Department, for all work done.
  • Administer tool and equipment issue control registers and exercise proper control of all assets,
    including tools, equipment and LDV’s, allocated to the section.
  • Adhere to stores and procurement procedures when spares or other stock is required.
  1. Budget Adherence & Continuous Improvement
  • Adhere to allocated section budget and always behave in a cost- conscious manner.
  • Propose cost saving initiatives to the Engineering Superintendent.
  1. Engineering HR Function (To be performed in conjunction with the HR Dept)
  • Act as mentor for Artisan Assistants and Servicemen. Propose training interventions and
    development programs to the Engineering Superintendent.
  • Supervise Artisan Assistants and Servicemen.
  • Manage discipline & initiate disciplinary action with assistance from the HR Department and
    Engineering Superintendent.
  • Manage time & attendance, sick leave and leave rosters subordinates. Ensure that overtime

Minimum Job requirements:

  • Grade 10 – 12
  • Qualified Artisan (Must be Section 13 “Red Seal” or alternatively Section 26 D qualification) with at
    least 3-5 years’ post qualification experience as Artisan.

  • Excellent knowledge and skills related to maintenance, repairs, and troubleshooting/diagnostics
    of heavy earthmoving equipment within an open cast mining environment.

Reports to: Training Superintendent/ HR Manager
Job purpose: assist the Training Superintendent to oversee and administer all aspects of Learning and
Development on site, including but not limited to onboarding, training planning and execution, updating
and maintaining the training matrix, training material, record keeping and reporting systems, etc. Liaise
with internal and external customers to ensure smooth delivery of the Training and Development function
and that all training interventions and material is aligned with HR Best practices, applicable policies and
procedures and Legislative requirements.

Key performance areas:
Provide professional, high level administrative assistance to the Training Superintendent and HR/D Team
with reference to the following

  1. Training Management Systems
  • Implement, administer and maintain effective Training systems to ensure that:
  • Applicable licenses and training certifications per occupation remains valid at all times.
  • Legal appointments are timeously issued, valid and properly filed.
  • The Training matrix remains updated and aligned for each occupation in terms of Company,
