We are looking to appoint an Electrical Engineer responsible for providing consulting
engineering services in various sectors including Building Services, Health Care, power
Backup Systems and Renewable Energy.
Key Responsibilities:
Managing engineering & construction projects from Inception to Close-out, with
minimum supervision;
Electrical & Electronic building services design and construction supervision;
Design calculations, budgets and tender specifications for assigned projects;
Tender documentation & adjudication;
Contract Management (JBCC, GCC, NEC & FIDIC);
Project financial control, reporting and fee claims
Collaborating and working with multi-disciplinary teams of engineers, including
design co-ordination,
Adhering to company SHEQ policy,
Embracing, displaying and promoting the company values and ensuring a safe
working environment
Qualifications
BSc Eng. or B. Tech. in Electrical Engineering (minimum)
Professionally registered engineer with ECSA, Pr. Eng. or Pr. Tech. Eng.
At least 6 years consulting engineering experience within the Building Services sector
Key Competencies:
Thorough knowledge of prevailing Electrical & Electronic Engineering standards
(E.g. SANS10142-1&2, SANS10139, SANS10400 and SANS204);
Good understanding and implementation of building services contracts (Eg. JBCC,
GCC, NEC & FIDIC);
Thorough knowledge and implementation of:
o Building Electrical & Electronic systems;
o Electronic Security Systems;
o Standby and Power Backup Systems (Generators & UPSs);
o Alternative/Renewable Power systems (Solar, Gas, Co-generation);
Knowledge and experience with Autodesk BIM (Revit, Navisworks, Glue, Field, etc.)
and Autodesk MEP Electrical;
Knowledge and experience with electrical software packages such as Ecodial, Relux,
DiaLux, CBi, and Amtech;
Higher than average Microsoft Office package (Excel, Word, Outlook, Power Point,
etc.) skills;
Work independently, taking responsibility for designs with little supervision from
senior management/engineers;
Knowledge of the latest technologies within the building services industry (e.g. BMS,
lighting, UPS etc.);
Interface professionally across all levels of the professional team and with the client;
Team player and be able to work independently on challenging projects that may have
tight timelines;
Excellent communication skills in English, including report writing abilities;
Drivers licence and own mode of transport to travel to sites;
Willingness to travel within RSA and Africa – valid RSA Passport.
