The successful candidate will be responsible for:
Ensure that all quarry activities achieve the required objectives.
Mining activity is in compliance with EMP and otherenvironmental requirements.
Manage the production of aggregate to justify volume demand requirement and
quality requirement of customers.
Ensure adequate production capacity to meet volume demand by managing Overall
Equipment Efficiencies.
Optimisation of maintenance of fixed and mobile equipment to ensure appropriate
Overall Equipment Efficiencies are met.
Manage the implementation ofadministration policies and procedures.
Lead and manage people toachieve performance objectives.
Ensure compliance to all SHElegal and procedural requirements
Qualifications, skills, knowledge and experience required:
Tertiary qualification, Diploma/Degree in Mining/Mechanical/Electrical engineering is a
requirement.
Five (5) years working experience in a mining/quarry environment in a management role,
responsible for production efficiencies, operational costs and people management.
Sound knowledge and working experience of mining and quarrying legislative requirements,
Mine Health and Safety Act 29 of 1996, Occupational Health and Safety Act 85 of 1993 etc.
Experience in Ready-Mix Operational requirements will be advantageous.
Blasting ticket applicable to open cast mining will be advantageous.
Advanced Computer skills (MS Office, SAP) is a requirement.
Valid driver’s license and own reliable transport is a requirement.

Reporting directly to the Cementitious Business Unit Executive and with an indirect reporting line to
the Human Resources Executive, the incumbent will be based at SSC.
The successful candidate will be responsible for:
Analysing the strategy and business plan of the Business Unit to determine the relevant
deliverables for the Business Unit’s Human Capital function.
Developing the Business Unit Human Resource Strategy aligned to the Organisational and
Business Unit Strategy
Leading and managing the human resources portfolio and team to achieve the functional deliverables.
Business Unit HR budgets.
Developing and implementing function specific control systems as required and ensure compliance.
Managing strategic relationships.
Identifying and managing HR risks across the Business Unit
Ensuring that the Business Unit has the staff with the necessary talent and skill to be a
high performing business unit
Successful implementation of approved transformation strategies across the Business Unit.
Executing Social and Labour Plan commitments in the Business Unit
Supporting and driving of the AfriSam Way in the Business Unit
Working with the HR Executive and senior HR Management with regards to overall company policies
and procedures related to AfriSam’s overall HR Strategy. This is meant to ensure that all business
units (Cement, Aggregates, Readymix, Sales & Marketing as well as all Support Functions at SSC)
are aligned with regards to the company’s HR policies and the execution thereof.
Qualifications, competencies, knowledge and experience required:
A 4 Year Qualification in Industrial Psychology or HR Management
Ten years’ experience in a mining and/or manufacturing environment, including:
o 5 years within a Business Partnering/ HR Generalist role
o 5 years within a Management Role in the Human Capital discipline in a large
corporate environment
Sound knowledge of legislation related to the HR profession, Mining Charter and Social and
Labour Plans, HR systems and financial management. Sound knowledge and understanding of
the processes related Human Resources in a mining or manufacturing environment
Advanced communication, reporting-, presenting-, conflict management, project
management, change management and strategic management skills.
Good knowledge and understanding of talent management strategies, human resources
development, organisational effectiveness and ability to lead and manage people.
