What we’re looking for:

We are looking for a Maintenance Manager to join our dynamic team based in Wadeville The successful incumbent will be responsible for the following:

Ensure that short term and long term maintenance plans are developed and executed on the plant in a manner that will benchmark to PepsiCo best practice.
Ensure maximum plant availability and reliability by leading and directing the maintenance team, ensuring at all times adherence to Safety legislation, relevant SANS codes and PepsiCo standards.
Drive effective execution of routine, preventative and reliability maintenance schedules.
Development of daily, weekly, monthly and 12 months maintenance plans and execution for Isando site while driving synergies with the other PepsiCo plants.
Provide support on project scoping, execution and commissioning by ensuring key maintenance resources are part of each stage of the project.
Management and development of the maintenance team and leverage skills in other SA sites to drive capability building.
Effectively drive synergies with the Reliability and Utilities functions to optimize plant performance.
Drive PEMM maturity and ensure adherence to maintenance standards with special focus on asset utilization, planning preparation and maintenance execution.
Undertake detailed analysis of the plant/assets to develop strategies and recommendations that will improve the reliability and performance of the plant, systems and maintenance effectiveness.
Loss elimination – track the production losses and abnormally high maintenance cost assets, and then find ways to reduce those losses or high costs.
Collaborate with Assets team members to develop, maintain and compile asset reliability, criticality and condition information necessary for the asset planning, delivery and maintenance strategies.
Routinely produce root-cause analysis reports, respond to requests regarding reliability for the site.
Professionally and systematically defines designs, develops, monitors and refines the Asset Maintenance Plan that includes: Value-added preventive maintenance tasks; Effective utilization of predictive and other non-destructive testing methodologies designed to identify and isolate inherent reliability problems.
Provides input into the Risk Management Plan that will anticipate reliability-related, and non-reliability-related risks that could adversely impact plant operation.
In full partnership with the operations team develops a plan to eliminate or reduce the losses through root cause analysis, obtains approval of the plan and facilitates the implementation.
Manage the risk to the achievement of the organization’s strategic objectives in the areas of environmental, health and safety, asset capability, quality and production.
Effectively use the following tools to identify and reduce risk: PHA – Preliminary hazards analysis; FMEA – Failure modes and effects analysis; CA – Criticality analysis; FTA – Fault tree analysis; ETA – Event tree analysis etc.
Develops engineering solutions to repetitive failures and all other problems that adversely affect plant operations. These problems include capacity, quality, cost or regulatory compliance issues.
Works with Project Engineering to ensure the reliability and maintainability of new and modified installations and ensure adherence to the Life Cycle Asset Management (LCAM) process throughout the entire life cycle of new assets.
Participates in the development of design and installation specifications along with commissioning plans.

What will qualify you for the role

Bachelor’s Degree (Mechanical or Electrical).
5+ years’ experience in maintenance management role
Strong knowledge of engineering concepts, including electrical, hydraulic and mechanical systems
Ability to interpret blueprints, specifications and schematics
Advanced computer skills, with emphasis on condition monitoring software/techniques
Strong mechanical and electrical knowledge and aptitude
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Strong knowledge of preventive maintenance programs and the tools associated with failure detection (i.e. vibration analysis, oil monitoring, thermography) as well as the software associated with them.
Minimum 7 years maintenance and reliability, production management, engineering or operations experience.
Extensive and relevant reliability management experience.

The Key responsibilities are:

Responsible for educating growers on latest agronomic practices that drive best in class crop quality (lower defects, higher solids), increased yields, reduce foreign objects, inspects and recommend farmer washing/grading operations and equipment.
Develop, implement and maintain good handling practices for crops to ensure high quality crops from storage to the factory.
Provide growers with best in class, specialist agronomic support to deliver improved crop quality, monitor crop performance (Croptrack) and implement sustainable improvements across all growers and growing regions.
Provide regional Agro management with monthly commercial crop volume estimates compared to contracted volumes, forecast crop losses where it occur, and/or identify potential supply risks in order to effectively plan for “short/over-supply” for commercial contract periods.
Interact with plant schedulers regularly, crop laboratory when needed, FLM’s and Operations Managers where needed to facilitate effective management of the different crop supply chain from farm to production.
Facilitate the successful integration to include a variety of crops into SA Program (identify suitable fields and areas for field trials, monitor fields and crop progress regularly, monitor crop quality, arrange plant trials and jointly collate and analyze conversion and consumer performance).
Assist Commercial Supply Manager in selecting regional strategic planting areas and farmers that will minimize risk and maximize productivity.
Facilitate and execute research projects (new plant materials, fertilizers and chemical, planting and irrigation practices), which will contribute positively to sustainability and productivity programs.

Compliance

Competition Law SA (including Botswana and Namibia)

Drive Competition law adherence and risk mitigation for SA.
Advising the business on Competition law risks associated with any sales strategies and trading terms.
Ensure a regular and robust training programme is in place across SA BU to ensure adherence to the Competition Act.
Advise the business of developments and Competition law matters in relevant territories as we expand into Africa (Botswana and Namibia).
Assist the VP and General Counsel in interacting and corresponding with the Competition Commission and Tribunal on all Merger Filings (in conjunction with the M&A legal team) and any other matters impacting the SA BU.

Consumer Complaints

Advise National Quality Manager on consumer complaints, which include drafting correspondence and settlement agreements/letters with consumers and dealing with Food Law matters for the BU including consumer complaints relating to illness and foreign objects and as well as PR threats and extortion cases.
The first port of call-in terms of legal advice in instance of product liability matter.
Maintain relationships with regulators in the food safety environment, particularly, Department of Health and the National Consumer Commission, amongst others.

Qualifications

Must be a university graduate from an academically recognized institution with a Law or other appropriate degree.
Must be a fluent in English.
Must have not less than 8 to 10 years post-qualification experience, ideally some completed in-house and a strong record of functional expertise.
Excellent analytical skills and the ability to manage and identify key issues in multiple complex inputs.
Maturity to hold firm in the face of significant commercial pressure in order to ensure the right result for PepsiCo.

Ensure claims management and engagement with customers/AR team is done within timelines and in a professional manner.
AR Claims to be managed weekly with commentary to resolve. Ensure Qliksense is updated daily and the claims threshold is maintained.

Quality:

Ensure basic housekeeping and 5S principles are adhered to in the office environment with clear physical flow of PODs and tracking of where every POD in “process” is. Ensure all PIs on compliance is completed daily.
Ensure 100% adherence to Health and Safety policies.
Ensure on time submission of Key Control quarterly feedback and sample results.

People:
