SIB Project Advisor

Job Description:

As Project Advisoryou will provide services as required and your responsibilities will include but not limited to:

  • Assist and support line management in project selection and scoping (front-end loading) to align with departmental and organisational strategies
  • Review and drive optimisation opportunities regarding project scope and cost even before a project is registered
  • Provide training (both formal and informal) to operational project managers with regards to project management, the ADM process, Anglo American Project Requirements, as well as site-specific requirements, standards, and procedures
  • Provide coaching and mentoring on an individual basis to new project managers as well as line management to explain their roles and responsibilities in the various aspects of project execution

  • Report and facilitate feedback sessions between project managers and owners’ team
  • Ensure adherence to governance regarding procurement, tender evaluation, adjudication, and order placement
  • Demonstrate optimised project cost and project scope on operational projects during the registration phase
  • Strong stakeholder management between cross-functional departments – Portfolio, Project office, SIB engineering and relevant operational sections to ensure project delivery
  • Ensure adherence to standards and procedures (SHE) during project execution through relevant sections and departments
  • Drive and assist in project closure and capitalisation of assets upon project completion
  • Monitor and track project progress to ensure project delivery and adherence to scope, cost, timeline, and quality.
  • Monthly updates and feedback sessions related to relevant operational projects

This role is in the SIB & Construction Management (CON) at a Band 6 level reporting to the Section Manager Projects.

Qualifications:

  • Grade 12
  • National Diploma / Degree in Project Management or any of the technical fields (Mechanical, Civil or Electrical)
  • SA Drivers Licence

Experience

  • Advanced knowledge of Project Management
  • Advanced knowledge of mining (preferably open-pit), processing or engineering industry
  • Advanced knowledge of key value drivers across the mining value chain and the interdependence therein
  • Advanced Computer literacy (MS Office, Projects, Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, MS Projects)

Job Description:

As our Supervisorof your responsibilities will include but not limited to:

Job Description:

Job responsibilities include (but are not limited to):

  • Communicating information to the team online up meetings regarding safety issues, targets, quality, drilling best practices and costs.
  • Communicating and sharing drill and blast performance.
  • Advising on required drilling and blast parameters (air pressure, feed pressure and rotation pressure, effective GET, explosive densities and VOD).
  • Recording all specified inspections required by the Minerals Act.
  • Submitting all checklists or formal controls required for the operation of hazardous machinery and equipment.
  • Developing drilling risk assessments, drilling procedures, check lists, drilling reports and drilling checklists.

  • Completing and presenting quality performance (individual performance and blast performance.
  • Obtaining and communicating operational statistics to the production teams i.e. (Production, Safety, Attendance, Efficiencies, Zero Tolerance compliance.

  • Assisting during breakdowns or emergencies and co-ordinating support from other disciplines.

Job responsibilities include (but are not limited to):

  • Ensure consolidation, alignment, and integration of discipline inputs into site 5-year plan and provide key technical input on production strategy, resource optimisation, maintenance plans, shutdown plans, risk management plans, mine design and equipment performance.

  • Sound understanding of maintenance practices and experience with electronic maintenance and asset management systems.
  • Demonstrated experience with managing mining electrical, mine infrastructure (surface and underground) and mine facilities within an Engineering team.
  • Demonstrated working knowledge of mine safety procedures and regulations preferably in an underground environment.

  • Managing and leading integrated owner and major mining (and construction) contractor teams in a mining project construction phase, and production ramp up
  • Technical areas including geology, geotechnical engineering, ventilation, hydrology, mining (pre-production and production), maintenance and engineering.
  • Construction / engineering project management of medium to large scale underground mining projects
  • Project & Mine Management experience of large scale mechanised UG Project &/or Mines.
