- Must be a qualified Electrician who has served an apprenticeship recognized by the Department of Labour or be a qualified Electrician with a Trade Test Certificate recognized by the Department of Employment and Labour.
- Must be in possession of a NTC2 or NCV3 in Electrical Engineering from a Further Education and Training College registered with the Department of Education.
- Valid Code EB or EC1 (10) driving license or be able to obtain one within 6 months of date of appointment.
- Must be in possession of a Professional Driving Permit (PrDP) or obtain one within 6 months of the date of appointment if required.
- Must be trained in First Aid or be trained within 6 months of the date of appointment.
- Must pass a proficiency test set by the department to prove sufficient general knowledge in the relevant field.

Job Purpose
To undertake effective testing of substation installations, protection systems and equipment, fault location, mal-operations investigations and acceptance testing of various equipment/materials.
Key Responsibility Areas
- Responsible to the Manager (Protection and Test) for the effective control and functioning of the Test Division.
- Undertake technical investigations in the heavy current field relating to protection systems and electrical apparatus.
- Conduct the pre-commission testing of high voltage, medium voltage and substation installations, protection schemes and equipment.
