Purpose Of the Role
An exciting and challenging opportunity exists in the Corporate Services Division, to Coordinate NMISA communal and meeting facilities by providing a high standard of hygiene and
cleanliness throughout the NMISA communal and meeting facilities, thereby contribution to
overall staff morale, NMISA image and hospitality

Minimum Requirements, Skills and Experience

  • Minimum Grade 12 with two years relevant experience.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Co-ordination of NMISA staff tearoom, including ensuring supplies are put out daily,
    locking and unlocking meeting rooms, control of meeting room equipment tidying and
    washing up to ensure the smooth functioning of the NMISA first floor facilities.
  • Control of kitchen stock to ensure effective use of supplies
  • Ensure safe keeping of presentation equipment (i.e projectors and remotes for
    projectors) and make sure they are in good condition all the time
  • Keep a check on cleaning materials and re-order via the Manager
  • Lock or inlock the building securely.
  • Maintain good hygiene standards in the communal and meeting rooms
  • To ensure that safe working practices are applied at all times
  • Comply with the requirements of the NMISA TQMS to ensure process consistency
    and effectiveness
  • Stand-in for reception as and when required

Accountant: Asset Management and Financial Reporting

Purpose Of the Role
Prepare financial statements in accordance with GRAP standards, PFMA and treasury regulations.
Oversee the accounting functions regarding internal controls on accounts receivables, Accounts
Payable, cash books, journals, and reconciliations and all bank accounts and petty cash. Assist in
the preparation and monitoring of NMISA annual budget including the MTEF/ENE as per National
Treasury guidelines. Prepare monthly, quarterly and annual budget reports, including budget
variance analysis explanations. Manage the assets and inventory of the organisation. Managing
and monitoring physical assets to ensure asset movements is documented, depreciation is
correctly calculated, and asset verification is performed. Prepare reconciliation of the fixed asset
register and the general ledger. Perform reassessment of useful life yearly.

Minimum Requirements, Skills and Experience

  • Post Graduate Diploma in Accounting or related Honours Degree in Finance
  • At least 5 years relevant experience, or completed articles
  • CA (SA) will serve as added advantage
  • Computer literacy, fluent in English, well-spoken and customer service orientated
  • Knowledge of GRAP, PFMA and its related regulations and Accounting software/ ERP
  • Understanding of internal controls, trial balance management and reconciliations
  • Previous experience in a public sector institution would serve as an added advantage

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Prepare Financial Statements in accordance with GRAP.
  • Compile the audit file for internal and external auditors
  • Assist in putting processes in place which will ensure the integrity and accuracy of financial
    information.
  • Prepare and maintain NMISA annual budget including MTEF/ENE
  • Prepare monthly, quarterly and annual budget reports, including budget variance analysis
    explanations.
  • Provide inputs into the development of financial policies and procedures.

  • Ensure that new acquisitions of assets are insured and disposed assets are removed
  • Perform the review of useful life of assets annually
  • Assist in preparing assets impairments for change in estimates, write-offs and residual values
    at year end.

The Position
An exciting and challenging opportunity exists in the Strategy, Business Development and
Governance Division, to provide direction and guidance to NMISA’s long-term strategic
planning, and annual performance planning. The successful candidate will be required to
provide evidence-based input on cross-cutting issues that have long term implications for
development.

Minimum Qualifications, Experience, knowledge and skills
Minimum Qualifications:

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Public Administration / Business Administration, Social
    Science, and/or Public Policy (a postgraduate qualification will be an advantage).
  • Additional certifications or diplomas in Planning, Monitoring and Evaluation will be
    an advantage.
  • A valid driver’s license.

Minimum Experience:

  • At least five years’ experience in ensuring proper planning, monitoring and
    evaluation of projects to give effect to the organisational strategy.
  • Required Knowledge:
  • Understanding of the validation and verification processes.
  • Extensive knowledge and understanding of legislative requirements applicable to
    the NMISA, including Measurement Units and Measurement Standards Act,

Responsibilities:
The purpose of the role is to ensure proper planning, monitoring and evaluation of
projects to give effect to the NMISA strategy.

  • Engaging with the shareholder (the Department of Trade, Industry and Competition (the
    dtic)) and the Department of Planning, Monitoring and Evaluation (DPME) on
    submission of plans, documents and reports, as well as management of the Electronic
    Quarterly Performance Reporting System (eQPRS).
  • Monitoring and reporting on key performance indicators and targets against the key
    outcomes and strategic objectives, as defined in the Strategy Plan and Annual
    Performance Plan.
  • Engage Senior Managers and Programme Managers to collect generated data, record,
    analyse and verify performance information evidence.
  • Analyse quarterly progress reports against the performance targets to inform
    improvements.
  • Monitor the quality of internal management practices against the requirements of the
    applicable regulatory frameworks.
  • Ensuring that PME policies, procedures and guidelines are available and implemented.
  • Act as a coordinator and integrator of PME information and as the champion of sound
    PME practices, norms and standards in the NMISA.
  • Prepare performance information and evidence for Internal and external audits. Ensure
    that performance outcomes pass audits without major findings and that any nonconformances raised are resolved within the given timeframes.

Minimum Requirements, Skills and Experience

  • N4 or higher Technical Certificate with 5years post apprenticeship experience.
  • Recognised Trade Certification Aircon, Electrical, Mechanical, Millwright
  • Be skilled in the fault finding, operations and repairs of all related site installations
  • Be knowledgeable on all basic refrigeration principles
  • Be knowledgeable on diverse installations
  • To be tolerant and understanding with a demanding client base
  • Must understand and accommodate where possible the client’s needs
  • Must be able to work on standby, attending to emergency callouts.

  • Basic understanding of the Occupational Health and Safety Act, 85 of 1993 in relation to
    Facilities and Construction Regulations promulgated under the Act

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • General maintenance of Facilities and repair of all air conditioning and related equipment,
    ensuring that the specific environmental conditions for all the different laboratories are met
    on a continued basis
  • Performance of preventative maintenance tasks, identified during routine inspections or
    according to maintenance registers, to ensure the optimal performance of all the air
    conditioning and related equipment.
  • Performing routine inspections according to the maintenance registers
  • Fault finding and repair of all air conditioning and other facilities related equipment.
  • Keeping of maintenance registers, for all compressors, chillers, air handlers and humidifiers
  • The sub-contracting of repair and maintenance work, as needed and approved by
    management, to competent contractors
  • The management of external contractors and the signing-off (verify that work was done
    professionally and according to the procurement order) of completed work
  • Attend to all emergency callouts, as informed by the CSIR Call Centre (control room).
  • Keep current on changing and evolving air conditioner trends and technologies
  • Advise NMISA sections on technical specifications of air-conditioning units and/ or other
    Facilities related equipment; and participate in Bid Specification Committees – including
    conducting site briefings.
  • Contractor Management – Supervise contractors and enforce campus rules together with
    Construction Regulations that bind contractors doing work onsite.
