Senior Specialist Occupational Health and Safety
Job Description
Key Performance Output
The successful candidate will be reporting to the Group Manager Aviation Regulatory Standards, and will be responsible but not limited to the following:
- Develop and implement OHS policies, standards, systems for monitoring and communication methods for ACSA.
- Develop frameworks and guidelines for infrastructure, projects, and operations inspection to ensure compliance to airport license requirements, international standards, national and local legislation together with ACSA policies and procedures.
- Monitor and ensure adherence to local and international regulatory requirements, organisational standards, policies, and procedures at network level, OHS Act, Construction Regulations, ICAO and CAA.
- Advising, and reporting to operations and management on procedural and legal requirements in respect of safety, health and environmental functions.
- Ensure remedial actions are implemented timeously to address non-conformances.
- Investigation and reporting of incidents and accidents as well as the design and implementation of remedial actions.
- Regular communication of new statutory regulations, organisational standards and policies to ensure full awareness and compliance amongst stakeholders.
- Ensure SMS, HIRA, EMS procedures are implemented and adhered to approved.
- Manage the legislated OHSACT safety appointments for ACSA.
- Plan, organise, lead and control subordinate’s activities to ensure sub-functional objectives are met or exceeded.
- Manage people development initiatives, succession planning and talent management to meet functional performance standards.
- Develop and implement OPEX budget.
- Track, monitor and report on expenditure.
- Provide technical / professional support to internal and external stakeholders to ensure achievement of functional and organisational objectives.
- Convene and facilitate the safety committees and forums as well as participating in Civil Aviation Regulations Committees.
Technical Skills and Experience
The following skills and experience or the equivalent of such will be required:
- A Bachelor’s Honours degree in NQF Level 8 in Safety Management or relevant qualification at equivalent level is essential.
- 7 years’ experience in operations within safety and compliance.
- 3 years’ experience in middle management.
- Knowledge of OHS Act, ICAO, CAA regulations etc.
- Auditing and Report writing skills
- Code B, Motor vehicle license is essential
- MS Office Competency

Senior Programme Manager
Job Description
Key Performance Output
The successful candidate will be reporting to the Group Manager Aviation Regulatory Standards, and will be responsible but not limited to the following:
- Input into maintenance planning, scheduling, and execution of the asset.
- Ensure strategic alignment of projects to business objectives and a consistent approach to project execution to drive optimal delivery.
- Oversee project scope and review projects within portfolio for resource prioritisation.
- Facilitate project managers and related resources meeting to consolidate and align on project delivery.
- Manage integration of project plans within multiple project portfolios; impact on business; key dependencies and optimise resources.
- Responsible for overall performance of project portfolio, including implementation to agreed delivery timing, financials and quality.
- Review updates from project managers on current stage and status of projects and provide necessary feedback and reporting on performance.
- Update EXCO, PMO and relevant Business Owners on total portfolio status, highlight / escalate necessary project performance and concerns.
- Assess and prioritise programme, financial and delivery risks.
- Advise and facilitate on necessary mitigating actions; provide guidance to project managers on project issues and risks.
- Establish, monitor and manage healthy, diverse, workable internal and external relationships, including the interface with external providers to ensure departmental/functional needs are met.
- Implement and manage people development processes such as performance management, succession planning and talent management to meet functional performance standards.
- Accountable for functional performance, within the agreed strategic framework and approved plans
- Provide direction, guidance and support to project managers and always ensure open and honest communication.
- Provide input to OPEX budget.
- Track and monitor expenditure.
Technical Skills and Experience
The following skills and experience or the equivalent of such will be required:
- Bachelor’s degree (4 years – 480 credits) in Build environment disciplines is essential.
- 8 years in operational experience in Project Management, Procurement exposure, including coordination and implementation of multidisciplinary infrastructure projects.
- 2 years in People and Stakeholder Management.
- Registration with South African Council for Project and Construction Management Professions (SACPCMP) or related is mandatory.
- Relevant Membership in Built environment will be an added environment.
- Code B, Motor vehicle license is essential
- MS Office Competency is essential.
