Job Purpose
The Specialist: Guest Experience – Food and Beverage role establish and implement a holistic and integrated Guest Relations Strategy in alignment with best practices to ensure a seamless guest service experience.
The incumbent will be responsible for creating innovative food and beverage product for the guest inflight and lounges experiences. Working closely with caterers in South Africa and around the world, you will be involved in the planning and implementation of the Airline’s inflight menus, beverage product and overseeing quality control. The incumbent will be required to monitor customer feedback and follow culinary trends to implement new offerings that continually excite the Airline’s customers.
Principal Accountabilities
Provide input into the design of the Guest Experience Strategy taking into account specialist expertise, best practice, benchmarking and market standards etc.
Implements Guest Experience strategy within area of responsibility
Recommends policies, processes, action plans and systems to support implementation of the strategy
Analyse cost drivers and provide recommendations on profitability of Guest Experience
Support the management and control of budget in area of responsibility
Utilises resources in area of responsibility and can work independently
Optimise technology to enhance internal and external customer expectations
Implements processes to deliver customer value
Drives customer centricity within areas of control
Maintain effective internal and external stakeholder relationships through appropriate relationship building and networking
Enforce Governance and Risk Management policies, processes and systems
Deliver on regular and timeous reporting of information to key stakeholders
Drive continuous optimisation programmes and initiatives
Engage in trend analysis, benchmarking, research, best practice to support optimisation of department
Manages projects to contribute to the optimisation of Commercial objectives
Manage all Food and Beverage and day-to-day operations within budgeted guidelines and to the highest standards
Preserve excellent levels of internal and external customer service
Design exceptional menus, purchase goods and continuously make necessary improvements
Constantly consider marketing objectives when proposing new concepts
Stay up to date with food and beverages trends and best practices
Identify customer needs and respond proactively to all of their concerns
Establish targets, KPI’s, schedules, policies and procedures
Provide two-way communication and nurture an ownership environment with the emphasis on motivation and teamwork especially the different caterers
Find innovative ways to launch new on-board menus that will result in positive word of mouth
Comply with all health and safety regulations
Report to management regarding sales results and productivity
Identify and resolve problems efficiently
Personally engage in investigations or problem solving activities where complaints exist that may be complex or long-standing that have been escalated upwards
Develop feedback or complaints procedures for customers to use
Design and implement a guest relations framework inclusive of standards for the airline and ensure that this is implemented across the value chain
Design standard operating manuals/ guidelines for guest relations provision inclusive but not limited to how to assist customers using the Airline’s service offering; communicating courteously with customers; investigating and resolving customers complaints, issuing refunds/ compensation to customers etc.
Actively align processes and procedures across the Airline to ensure a quality customer experience
Conduct the annual wine selection process
Conduct HACCP audits in all kitchens where SAA has contracted services
Write Business Class menus, coordinate translations where required as well as coordination of printing of menus and winelists
Qualifications & Experience
Culinary School Diploma or Degree in Food Service Management or related
A trained chef with exposure to international cuisines from a variety of cultures will be an advantage
At least 3-5 years of working experience in Food and Beverage position at an International Hotel or similar establishment
A strong record of successful customer service management required
Experience overseas or in airline catering will be an advantage

Job Purpose
South African Airways (SAA) wants you to join the SAA family as a First Officer.
As a First Officer, you will be expected to take all measures required for the safety of the flight, whether on the ground, or inflight, and be expected to perform the duties of a pilot for South African Airways as either a Second-In-Command Pilot (P2) or Cruise Relief Pilot (P3).

Qualifications & Experience
Matric Certificate / Grade 12 results / N3 or relevant tertiary qualifications (SAQA accredited)
Compulsory subjects: Mathematics or Statistics 101 and English (D symbol on higher grade or C symbol on standard grade) coupled with one of the following: Physical Science or Computer Science (D symbol on higher grade or C symbol on standard grade)
Valid South African Airline Transport Pilot’s License, or a Commercial Pilot License having completed all the ground subjects for the ATPL (previously known as a Frozen ATPL). A valid ATPL License must be obtained within 4 years from date of employment with SAA with a multi engine instrument rating
Valid Class 1 medical
A minimum of 1,500 flying hours which includes 200 hours on multi-engine aircraft
Be a South African citizen with a valid Passport
Knowledge and Skills
Must have expertise in the application of safety standards and safe operating practices
Detailed knowledge and understanding of national and international aviation regulations such as CAA, ICAO, IATA, FAA, and EASA
Demonstrate a firm understanding of international travel, international customs and practices etc.
