ASSMANG Pty Ltd – Manganese Division, Black Rock Mine Operations situated 80km North-West of Kuruman in the Northern Cape is offering bursary opportunities for the 2025 academic year which is inclusive of tuition fees, accommodation, laptop and prescribed books. The closing date for applications will be Thursday, 30 January 2025.
The Bursary 2025 Programme will be for the following fields of study:
→ Mining Engineering – (Bachelor of Technology: Mining Engineering / Advanced Diploma: Mining Engineering / Bachelor of Science: Mining Engineering).
→ Mechanical Engineering – (Bachelor of Technology: Mechanical Engineering / Advanced Diploma: Mechanical Engineering / Bachelor of Science Engineering).
→ Electrical Engineering Heavy Current – (Bachelor of Technology: Electrical Engineering / Advanced Diploma: Electrical Engineering / Bachelor of Science Engineering).
→ Metallurgy – BSc or BTech Degree in Metallurgy / Chemical Engineering.

Assmang Proprietary Limited was incorporated in the Republic of South Africa in 1935, and operates through three key divisions: iron ore, manganese and the smelting operations. It is owned jointly by Assore South Africa Proprietary Limited (Assore) and African Rainbow Minerals Limited (ARM), listed on South Africa’s premier stock exchange, the JSE Limited, under the symbol ARI. ARM provides administration and technical functions, while Assore performs the sales and marketing function.
WHERE WE OPERATE
In South Africa, the company mines manganese ore at the Black Rock mining complex (Nchwaning and Gloria mines) and iron ore at Khumani and Beeshoek mines, which are all situated in the Northern Cape. The company produces manganese alloys at Cato Ridge Works and Cato Ridge Alloys in KwaZulu-Natal and Sakura Ferroalloys in Malaysia. The bulk of production is exported to Asia, Europe, India and the United States of America.

Assmang is controlled jointly by Assore Limited and African Rainbow Minerals of the issued share capital and voting rights of the Company. The bulk of the Groups production is exported to the Asia, Europe, India and the United States of America.
