Financial management and control
Contribute towards the formulation and implementation of strategic initiatives for the Transactional Product and unsecured lending product divisions.
Preparation of relevant management reports in the required format for distribution to business units. Reporting includes, inter alia:- Management reporting (financial pack) NIR, interest expense and unsecured EIR inclusive of Opex (actuals, forecast, budget), Capex and Procurement components and revenue analysis
Management of control environment
Establish and maintain appropriate internal controls to ensure compliance with the policy and internal control requirements of the Group.
Facilitate and support audit and review of controls by internal and external auditors.
Monitor internal financial controls in the Transactional Product divisions, and take corrective action where required.
Gain a complete and detailed understanding of policies, procedures & controls for the Transactional Product divisions and ensure that they are being properly adhered to.
Financial reporting
Preparation of monthly management accounts in required format for use in various reporting packs (including but not limited to EXCO and Board reporting packs).
Budgeting, forecasting, financial modelling and building of business cases
Overall responsibility for the preparation of annual NIR, interest income and EIR and deposit balance sheet growth.
Overall transactional and product opex and capex budgets and forecasts for PB (in the required format) for discussion, review and refinement with the EXCO member and presentation to the Board.
Track, monitor and engage with business, both at an executive and an operational level to implement corrective action as and when required. Facilitate and coordinate the compilation of the budgets and forecasts of the individual business units by the respective finance business partners.
Establish and maintain framework of cost and revenue drivers, as well as a forecasting framework for each functional business area.
Preparation of business cases and financial models, both for individual business units.
Produce and analyse a quarterly re-forecast for the purposes of managing the profitability as well as strategic glide path of PB.
Produce proposals and manage strategic insights with regard to potentially viable partnerships.
Customer relationships
Create and maintain productive relationships with internal and external clients by providing professional and appropriate advice and assistance.

Group reporting
Oversee the preparation and consolidation of the interim (bi- annual) group financial reporting pack compliant with IFRS, JSE regulations and other legislation requirements
Establish and monitor financial reporting timelines and deadlines to ensure timely preparation and submission of group financial reports, both internally and externally. Coordinating with finance teams across different business units to meet reporting requirements
Provide consolidated financial reports and analysis to support decision-making and strategic planning at the group level. This includes preparing management reports, financial dashboards, and key performance indicators (KPIs) to assess group performance and trends
Manage the preparation and submission of regulatory reports required by regulatory authorities at the group level. This may include prudential returns, capital adequacy reports, liquidity reports, and other regulatory disclosures to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements
Establish and maintain effective internal controls and procedures to ensure the integrity and reliability of financial reporting processes
Identifying opportunities to streamline group reporting processes, enhance efficiency, and improve accuracy through the adoption of best practices and technology solutions
IFRS Compliance
Maintenance of the group accounting policies to ensure IFRS compliance and best IFRS practices
Maintenance of the group disclosure templates to ensure IFRS compliance and best IFRS practices
Facilitation of IFRS group training and creation of IFRS awareness through out the group
Participation in the BASA and other forums related to financial reporting
Integration of the group financial and management reporting framework with other applicable frameworks (integrated reporting, sustainability reporting, BEE reporting, SARB reporting etc)
Facilitation of various business transactions and ventures in order to ensure compliance and best IFRS practices
4 – Budgeting
Oversee the preparation of the group’s annual budget in collaboration with finance teams across various business units and departments
Conduct financial analysis to evaluate budget proposals, assess financial viability, and identify areas for cost optimisation or revenue enhancement. Providing recommendations based on financial analysis and scenario modelling
Manage the review of budget submissions from different business units to ensure accuracy, completeness, and compliance with budget guidelines and regulatory requirements
Monitor actual financial performance against budgeted targets on an ongoing basis. Analysing variances and investigating underlying causes to identify areas of concern or opportunities for improvement
Lead the communication of budgetary goals, targets, and performance metrics to relevant internal teams. Providing regular updates and reports on budget performance, variances, and forecasts
Identify opportunities to streamline budgeting processes, enhance efficiency, and improve accuracy through the adoption of best practices
Financial planning
Lead the development of financial forecasts, including revenue projections, expense forecasts, and cash flow projections, based on historical data, market trends, and business drivers
Collaborate with finance teams to develop rolling forecasts and long-term financial plans based on actual performance, market trends, and strategic initiatives. Continuously updating forecasts to reflect changes in business conditions and adjusting plans accordingly
Provide financial analysis and due diligence support for potential M&A transactions and strategic partnerships. Assessing the financial impact of proposed acquisitions, evaluating synergies, and assisting in the development of financial models and business cases
Participate in the development of the banking group’s dividend policy and capital allocation strategy. Assessing cash flow projections, capital requirements, and regulatory constraints to determine appropriate dividend levels and distribution policies

Maintenance of NPV models used in Credit for purposes of pricing / loan size determination
Incorporate factors such as initial costs, expected cash flows, and the time value of money to calculate NPVs and make informed investment decisions
Analyse different pricing strategies for banking products and services to understand how changes in pricing levels impact customer demand, revenue, and overall profitability
Creation and back testing of assumptions or ‘curves’ for purposes of the NPV models
Reconciliation of NPV models to financial statements
Determine the allocation of capital among various business units, projects, and initiatives based on their respective NPVs
Business Intelligence, Benchmarking and Trend Analysis
Collaborate with relevant teams to gather data from various sources within the Group, including financial systems, customer databases, market data, and economic indicators
Utilise advanced analytics tools and techniques to analyse large datasets and extract meaningful insights that support strategic initiatives
Define and track KPIs that measure the bank’s financial performance, operational efficiency, customer satisfaction, and other relevant metrics
Apply predictive modelling to forecast future trends, customer behaviour, and market dynamics, aiding in proactive strategic planning
Benchmark the Groups financial performance, operational efficiency, and other key metrics against industry peers and competitors
Proactively source, collect, analyse, and interrogate data, compare to internal, external, local, and international benchmarks and report meaningful findings and observations
Provide strategic input based on benchmarking results, suggesting strategies to bridge performance gaps and capitalize on opportunities
Analyse historical financial and operational data to identify trends and patterns that can inform future strategic decisions
