PURPOSE
To implement and maintain the Fraser Alexander SHEQ management systems to effectively manage Safety, Health, Environmental and Quality related risks in the area of responsibility. Create an environment in which employees behave responsibly towards the risks that form part of their specific work environment. Develop basic SHEQ systems in line with client requirements that are not satisfied by the Fraser Alexander SHEQ system
RESPONSIBILITIES
policy, targets, objectives & goals
• Ensure that the current SHE Policy is displayed at all areas of the operation.
• Make all employees aware of the SHE Policy, Targets, Objectives and Goals. Communication with all clients in this regard.
Legal Aspects/Requirements
• Ensure company practices comply with Legislative requirements.
• Ensure submissions of applicable statutory documents.
• Quarterly review of appointments in each audit area and update.
• Advise management / appointees of the roles, responsibilities and duties.
Risk Assessment
• Ensure that all contracts have a baseline risk assessment.
• Review baseline risk assessment annually.
• Assist and advise operational staff with risk assessments.
• Conduct WSWP and Planned task observation.
• Conduct an issue base risk assessment with all reportable or disabling incidents.
• Establish a system to monitor WCA claims status.
• Monitor the medical status of employees.
Requirements
Reporting, Recording and/or Review
• Submit monthly report to SHE Coordinator.
• Report all reportable, DI or any health incidents to the SHE Coordinator.
• Report on WCA status monthly.
Special Projects
• Provide on going feedback to management on the project.
• Review the project at the end of the project to ensure continual approval.
QUALIFICATIONS
• Grade 12
• National Diploma / Btech in Safety Management
EXPERIENCE
• 2 years’ experience in a Safety Role

RESPONSIBILITIES
Carry and fulfil responsibilities of a MHSA Section 2.9.2 legal appointment.
Maintain FAMP policies, Standards and procedure requirements.
Preparation and execution of scheduled routine maintenance, in conjunction with production planning.
Champions the implementation of proactive maintenance and the elimination of reactive maintenance by implementing preventive and predictive maintenance programmes.
To support operations by providing effective equipment maintenance ensuring equipment reliability and availability.
Parts and inventory management.
Control maintenance costs effectively and prevent as far as possible over expenditure.
COORDINATOR
Issuing of work schedules and job cards.
Lead team to complying with company SHE strategy and zero harm frame-work
Develop, review and agree the weekly maintenance plan with the Maintenance and Process team. Ensures safe execution.
Reduce reaction times to breakdowns (MTTR) and increase mean time between failures (MTBF) through the effective implementation of maintenance best practices, systems and procedures.
Oversee third party contractor maintenance and compliance.
Maintains an organised, clean and safe work area.
Evaluates condition monitoring status.
ADMINISTRATION
Ensures maintenance logs and work order documentation on equipment inspection and repairs are maintained to required standard
Prepares month end performance report for engineer
Generates cost report to site manager/engineer.
Ensures all break downs are appropriately recorded by subordinates.
MANAGING THE TEAM
Select and appoint competent and passionate people.
Supervision, training and development of maintenance subordinates.
Maintain open channel communication with subordinates through daily meetings for two-way feedback.
Monitor performance & maintain discipline.
Serve as a mentor to yearly intake of work integrated learning students.
QUALIFICATIONS
N3 Mechanical/Electrical Engineering subjects
Trade Test MQA/MERSETA preferred
Supervisory Course (Advantageous)
EXPERIENCE
Learnership/Apprentice in Mining/construction/transport/plant or
manufacturing2 years
Artisan 3-5 years in Mining/plant or manufacturing
3 Years management experience
Experience on Processing plant
SKILLS, QUALITIES AND ABILITIES REQUIRED
Ability to effectively prioritise and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment.
Good verbal and written communications.
Strong troubleshooting, analytical and problem-solving ability.
Demonstrated firm supervisory skills
Computer literacy: Excel Basic; Pragma Onkey basic.
Knowledge of electrical and mechanical engineering safe practice.
Strong technical skills and knowledge of best practices in maintenance procedures and protocols.
