Job description
The successful candidate will be responsible for, but not be limited to:
Relieve the Sinker in charge of the crew should the need arise and take charge within agreed parameters in line with legal and safety protocols
Sign legal declarations for a workplace, record and be in charge of explosive usage
Construction work effected to standard and within timelines
Safe operation of the stage, including stage inspections, installation of services and concrete lining
Safe and timeous bank activities, including slinging arrangements and effective shaft signalling for the safe conveyance of equipment, materials, explosives, blasted rock and people
Effective risk management and compliance with DMR, M&RC and Client’s policies, procedures, standards and safety protocols
Effective communication to ensure safe and timeous workflows
Effective self-management and team supervision in alignment with M&RC’s values
Minimum requirements
Suitable candidates must possess the following minimum qualifications and skills:
Grade 12 or NQF 4 equivalent
Numeracy skills
Blasting Certificate (Scheduled Mines)
Onsetter Certificate
Basic Rigging Certificate (advantageous)
Working at Heights Certificate (advantageous)
Certificate to operate an Excavator (advantageous)
Certificate to operate a Batch Plant (advantageous)
Certificate to operate a Drill Rig (site specific)
