Job Description:
Purpose of the role:
Responsible for supporting the business unit executive structure in analysing and improving financial results with the main focus on customer support and business partnering with different MAH corporate business units. The role includes variance analysis of the costs of each of the divisions and compliance activities as well as management of the shared service SLA in terms of delivery of reports etc. Responsible for the accuracy of the financial planning for certain MAH Corporate divisions.
Key Accountabilities
Business Partnering
Act as the key Finance Contact to the divisional GMs and HODs.
Assist GMs and HODs with issues arising in the respective Cost Centres.
Maintain relationships with divisional GMs and provide visibility around divisional performance.
Perform Financial Planning and Analysis
Be the first point of contact on financial matters to MAH divisional GMs
Take accountability for financial processes relating to a defined list of business units within MAH including monthly reporting and plan processes
Liaise actively with Shared Services to deliver MAH objectives
Drive monthly finance meetings for results reviews with MAH divisional GMs
Provide MAH Corporate input into consolidated 24-month Treasury cash flow forecasts
Provide MAH corporate input into consolidated 24-month rolling forecasts of the Income Statement, Balance Sheet and Cash flow statement
Initiation and approval of SGA expenses to confirm validity and availability of budget
Provide input into the monthly reporting pack for business units (including financial performance and variance analyses of actuals against plans, forecasts, prior periods)
Prepare divisional performance reporting for monthly and year to date results against budget and forecasts (including input into functional review requirements)
Provide meaningful ad hoc financial analysis as required to divisional GMs and regional teams for agency and franchises
Proactively partner with the business to identify and evaluate opportunities to improve bottom line business performance and ensure that change initiatives are implemented
Assist with projects identified by the business and drive them to completion.
Budgets and Forecasts
Responsible for budgeting and forecasting of MAH divisional income statement, certain balance sheet and cash flow financial statement line items.
Responsible for the completeness and accuracy of the MAH entity financials for budgets and forecast.
Through close engagement with GMs, drive the budget and forecast process for various business units.
Responsible for BPC loading of divisional income statement, balance sheet and cashflow during budgets as well as monitoring the performance of the system
Assist with the completion of MAH BV consolidated 24-month rolling forecasts of the Income Statement, Balance Sheet and Cash flow statement

This role provides an oversight and is responsible for the internal controls and financial reporting compliance across the ROA/ Multichoice Africa Holdings (MAH) Group. The role is also responsible for actuals and budgets consolidation of the MAH BV Group results.
Key Performance Objectives
Business Partner
Maintain relationship and collaborate with Finance teams across countries, Corporate and Shared services
Assist Corporate and in-country teams on resolution of accounting and finance issues
Work on accounting and finance projects within the group
Group consolidation
Prepare consolidated results of MAH BV Group and for other sub-consolidation groups, for actual monthly, interim reporting, year-end reporting, forecasts and budgets annually
Responsible for the accurate reporting of consolidated budget and forecast processes on HFM
Take responsibility for the group consolidated balance sheet and cash flow, including accounting for common control transactions
Ensure the reporting timetable is adhered to, including communicating with the various subsidiaries to assist when needed and to communicate exceptions and delays to relevant group stakeholders.
Ensure policies and procedures are adhered to with respect to journal approval and working paper support and a monthly consolidation file is kept with relevant supporting documentation and management authorisation.
Detail reviewing of the monthly consolidation using the Hyperion FM system, analytical procedures and following up on unusual transactions and variances
Interaction with group subsidiaries to train and assist with HFM reporting or accounting issues
Assist the FM in managing internal and external auditors in terms of the group numbers ensuring compliance with MCG requirements
Automation of working paper files (eg. Calculations of minorities) using macros and formula functions
Assist subsidiaries’ reporting teams in loading quality financial information on a monthly basis and review/compare their monthly management pack to the FM submission
Prepare and maintain the MAH group structure, statutory file and update the file with up-to-date statutory information
Assist in setting up group reporting controls to ensure accuracy and completeness of the numbers in HFM
Resolve MCG queries in relation to the HFM financial information
Financial accountability and oversight for countries
Review the financial processes to strengthen, improve & standardise financial reporting and controls to deliver more efficient processes and an improved control environment,
Support the FMs in the countries in maintaining the integrity of the General Ledger through implementing best practices, building capacity, and implementing process for regular Balance sheet reviews within the countries
Assist with the ERP financial systems changes/updates with guidance from MCG reporting team
Interacts with internal auditors for Corporate and in-country the entities.
Monitor the internal audit findings and drive resolution
Responsible for maintaining an appropriate internal control environment around the financial reporting and close process
Drive the balance sheet health across the group, including timely completion of balance sheet reconciliations and resolution of reconciling items.
Assist the Senior FA in technically leading projects and driving standardisation of systems and processes
Responsible for maintaining the Chart of accounts and ensuring compliance
Assist with HFM account mappings and ensuring that the use of accounts is standardised across the group and in line with the MCG COA and MCG accounting manual
Ensure the implementation and maintenance of system, controls, and procedures for the recording of accounting transactions
Liaison between corporate and country teams in all matters relating to internal controls and financial reporting.
Implement and drive review processes that impact the integrity of the trial balance to improve the quality of reporting
Ensure reconciliations between financial systems i.e GP, Business Warehouse, BPC and HFM
