PURPOSE

An exciting opportunity exists at Fraser Alexander Zimbabwe, based at the SMC site. The role is responsible for ensuring that all operational targets and contractual obligations are met on time and to the highest quality standards. Additionally, you will be responsible for maintaining excellent housekeeping practices and driving operational excellence within your designated area.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Operations

  • Punctual adherence to site-specific time schedules and shift handovers.
  • Valve operations – opening and closing of valves/deposition open ends.
  • Perform penstock operations according to standards, including packing, wall dressing, and closing holes and gullies at the dam.
  • Assist with all types of installations, such as pipes, catwalks, platforms, freeboard poles (painting), berm penstocks, and maintenance.
  • Perform any other related jobs/tasks as assigned by an authorised supervisor.

Health and Safety

  • Wear correct PPE for each specific task.
  • Attend daily safety talks and report any unsafe acts and conditions.
  • Follow all written and verbal safe work procedures and ensure emergency preparedness.

Basic Inspections

  • Report all defects related to pump stations, including leaks and spillages.
  • Conduct regular inspections of pressure gauges.

Housekeeping

  • Practice good housekeeping around all pumps and valves, including cleaning solution trenches, catchment paddocks, drain rodding (removal of vegetation), and issuing materials from stores.

Timekeeping

  • Accurate reporting of personal timekeeping.

Requirements

QUALIFICATIONS

  • A minimum of three Ordinary Level subjects, including English.

EXPERIENCE

  • No prior experience required but should be medically fit as per company standards.
  • Any related experience in deposition and hydro sluicing will be advantageous.

Steel Fixer (Limpopo)

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Interpret blueprint and specifications to determine the required layout and dimensions of rebar.
  • Cut and shape steel using tools such as pliers, wire cutters, and rebar benders.
  • Place steel in the correct position and secure it using wire or plastic ties.
  • Weld or bolt rebar pieces together as required.
  • Assist shuttering carpenters with form work or pouring concrete depending on the site size and staffing.
  • Ensure that all rebar is installed to the required standards and specifications.

RESPONSIBILITIES
