Walter Sisulu University is a multi-campus, comprehensive University, with its seat at its Nelson
Mandela Drive campus in Mthatha. The University has four campuses in Mthatha, Butterworth,
Buffalo City and Queenstown. Applications are hereby invited for the following position based in
Mthatha Campus.

FACULTY OF LAW, HUMANITIES AND SOCIAL SCIENCES
SCHOOL OF LAW
DIRECTOR: LAW CLINIC (P6), PERMANENT
REF NO: WSU MTH EXT 2025/10

Qualifications:

LLM (NQF 9)
Proof of admission as an admitted attorney of the High Court of South Africa on or before
1 May 2015 and currently in legal practice.

Experience:

5 years of management in legal practice.
Teaching experience within a university environment will be an added advantage.
Demonstrate experience in Clinical Legal Education.

Key Performance Areas:

Provide strategic and organisational leadership of the Law Clinic.
Represent clients before courts and other juridical bodies.
Take leadership in the design and delivery of Clinical Legal Education.
Perform community engagement.
Liaise with funders and communities.
Manage stakeholder relations and communications.
Manage human resources, fiscal planning and operations.

Skills and Competencies Required:

Good trial advocacy skills.
Provide leadership in the clinic.
Mentoring and supervision of Candidate Attorneys.
Excellent English language, communication and writing skills.
Good drafting, writing, and editing skills.
Good conflict resolution skills.
Strong analytical skills.
Computer literacy skills.
Ability to work as a member of a team.
Time management skills.
