Safety and Security Sector Education and Training Authority (SASSETA) is a public entity, established in
terms of Section 9(1) of the Skills Development Act 97 of 1998.
The following fixed-term contract position expiring on 31st of March 2030 exists in the organisation:
CHIEF EXECUTIVE OFFICER
ALL-INCLUSIVE MAXIMUM ANNUAL REMUNERATION PACKAGE (TCTC): R2 650 233
Reporting directly to the Accounting Authority (SASSETA Board), the incumbent shall:
❖ Sign SLA with the Minister and implement it.
❖ Sign MOUs with other stakeholders and implement them.
❖ Facilitate the development of the planning documents (SP, APP & SSP) and obtain their approval
and implementation thereof.
❖ Implement decisions of the Board.
❖ Execute strategic and management operations of SASSETA.
❖ Attend and report at the meetings of the Board and its sub-committees.
❖ Execute strategic planning, policy development and implementation
❖ Manage the overall performance of SASSETA.
❖ Build and maintain good stakeholder relations particularly with respect to the organization’s
operations.
❖ Ensure strict and responsible control of the finances of SASSETA, in compliance with the financial
management requirements of PFMA.
❖ Acquire, develop and retain human capital.
❖ Ensure the development of the organization’s overall strategic plan and budgets as prescribed by
the Department of Higher Education and Training and National Treasury.
❖ Ensure the development of and adherence to the SASSETA’s corporate management, core
business delivery, financial management and reporting policies, systems and procedures.
❖ Ensure that the organization’s core business is implemented in line with applicable protocols and
policies as set out by SAQA and/or the QCTO; and relevant legislation and regulations.
❖ Ensure that the SASSETA is adequately safeguarded from or effectively manages risks.
❖ Ensure the organization’s compliance with relevant legislation and monitor legislative and
regulatory developments pertaining to it.
❖ Ensure the development and implementation of a Supply Chain Management system is consistent
with legislative and other good governance arrangements.
❖ Ensure the SASSETA’s fulfilment of grant disbursement in terms of applicable laws and
regulations.
❖ Ensure that SASSETA’s -funded projects are implemented efficiently and effectively.
❖ Ensure the SASSETA’s compliance with all its policies, legislative, regulatory and reporting
obligations.
❖ Ensure that the responsibilities as delegated by the Accounting Authority are carried out efficiently.
❖ Perform such other functions as determined by the Accounting Authority (Board).
Job Requirements
❖ A minimum of NQF level 9 qualification.
❖ A minimum of 10 years’ experience at a management level.
❖ A minimum of 5 years’ experience at Executive level.
❖ A minimum of 5 years’ experience in the public sector.
Required Skills, Knowledge and Attributes
❖ Demonstrated capability of leading an organization of more than 150 employees.
❖ Knowledge of and working experience on the NDP Vision 2030, PFMA, NQF Act, SDA, SDLA,
SAQA Act, etc.
❖ Demonstrated capability of effective risk management and optimizing resources.
❖ Proven track record of project management.
❖ Stakeholder management of diverse constituencies.
❖ Good negotiation skills.
❖ Sound finance management skills.
❖ Good presentation skills.
❖ Good computer literacy.
❖ Effective leadership ability which will lead all employees to subscribe to the corporate values of
SASSETA.
