The Legal Practice Council (LPC) invites qualified and experienced candidates to apply for a vacant
position at the Western Cape Provincial Office.

CTC Salary Package : R571,000 all-inclusive package p.a.

Minimum Appointment Requirements
Matric/Grade 12 Certificate; ▪ Law Degree; ▪Admission as a Legal Practitioner; ▪2 years post-admission
experience in a legal environment, of which 1 must be in prosecution; ▪ 2 years in a professional
regulatory environment is advantageous. Knowledge of Legal Practice Act, No 28 of 2014; ▪ Section 109
Regulations; ▪ Code of Conduct for all Legal Practitioners and Juristic Entities; ▪All aspects of law, e.g.,
Road Accident Fund Act, Criminal Procedure Act, Labour Law; ▪Rules of the LPC; ▪Court procedure and
the law of evidence; ▪Financial principles.

Skills & Competencies
Excellent communication and legal writing skills;▪ Strong attention to detail and accuracy;▪ Prosecution
and analytical skills;▪ Research capability and critical thinking;▪ Problem-solving and decision‑making
abilities;▪ Time management, multi‑tasking, and ability to work under pressure;• Professional integrity
and confidentiality;▪ Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Key Responsibilities
Investigations & Case Management- Assess complaints relating to alleged misconduct and determine
prima facie cases; ▪Gather and analyse all relevant information and documentation; ▪Identify additional
areas of concern requiring investigation; ▪ Conduct investigations within prescribed timeframes; Prepare
investigation reports and recommendations. Committee Support & Administration-Present matters to
Investigating Committees, provide input, and record decisions;▪Provide feedback to complainants and
legal practitioners regarding outcomes;▪Prepare agendas and documentation for committee deliberations; Report on investigation findings for further prosecution or dismissal or send to Disciplinary
Hearing Committee adjudication; ▪Coordinate appeals, reviews, and follow‑ups on inspections
conducted; Prosecution- Draft and formulate charges in accordance with applicable legislation;
▪Prosecute matters before Disciplinary Committees;▪Lead witnesses and present evidence;▪Maintain
accurate records of decisions of Committees, the Council, and Courts. Other Duties- Provide advisory
support within the regulatory environment; ▪Perform general office administration; ▪Participate in the
recruitment of staff, manage performance, staff supervision and discipline as required.

The Legal Practice Council shall apply the Employment Equity targets prescribed under the
Employment Equity Act, 55 of 1998, and those in force at the time of appointment, when
considering candidates for this position.
