Overview of the Organisation
The NMISA is a Type 3A Public Entity established in accordance with the Measurement Unit and
Measurement Standards Act, No. 18 of 2006 (the Act). The NMISA is mandated by the Act to
provide for the use of the international system of units (the SI) and other measurement units in
South Africa, to maintain national measurement standards (NMS) and to determine and ensure
the comparability of the NMS. More information can be obtained from www.nmisa.org

Purpose of Role:
A vacancy exists in the Internal Audit Section of the NMISA for an Internal Auditor to provide an
independent, objective assurance and consulting service designed to add value and improve the
operations of NMISA

Minimum Qualifications, knowledge and Experience

  • B Com degree or B Tech degree in the following fields: Accounting/Internal Audit
  • At least two (2) years’ experience in internal audit, experience within an audit firm would be
    an added advantage.
  • Internal Audit Technician and / or training will be an added advantage, including membership
    to the Institute of Internal Auditors.
  • Knowledge of Global Internal Audit Standards, Treasury Regulations, Public Finance
    Management Act (PFMA), Policies, and COSO Framework, IIA Code of Ethics.
  • Skills: Strong Communication skills, Interviewing, problem-solving, analytical skills, reportwriting skills, Creative Thinking abilities, and the ability to work under pressure.
  • Valid drivers license would be an added advantage

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Perform audit administration functions as outlined in the approved audit methodology.
  • Opening audit files in line with the approved methodology.
  • Perform execution / fieldwork in accordance with approved audit program, document audit
    working papers and reference working papers to findings worksheets and reports.
  • Clearing coaching / review notes on working papers and draft audit report on time.
  • Assist in compiling draft audit reports supported by audit working papers and findings
    worksheets.
  • Perform follow-up audits as scheduled in the approved audit plan under the supervision of the
    Senior Internal Auditor.
  • Independently perform approved audit assignments as per the annual audit plan and audit
    methodology.
  • Perform execution of fieldwork in accordance with approved audit methodology, which
    includes audit programs, document audit working papers, referencing working papers to final
    reports. Ensure the completeness of audit files in line with audit methodology_
  • Compile audit findings worksheet, draft reports and final reports make recommendations
    based on audit observations. Ensure that reports are issued within agreed timeframes with
    the management.
  • Ability to communicate and present draft report and or audit findings worksheet to
    management and Section Heads.
  • Ensure that review notes / coaching notes on working papers and audit reports are cleared
    on time.
  • Conduct Ad-Hoc assignments including assisting with investigations emanating from
    Management Requests or NMISA Fraud Hotline.
  • Assist in the preparation of the Internal Audit quarterly report to the Audit and Risk Committee
    reflecting performance against the Annual Internal Audit Plan.
  • Ensure compliance and adherence to Global Internal Audit Standards, Audit Methodology,
    and Exercise due professional care when conducting audit work.

understanding and helpful manner while performing tasks associated with the position. The position
also requires being honest and ethical, being pleasant with others and displaying a good-natured,
cooperative attitude.
