Construction Project Planner

Role Summary

The Mine Planner is responsible for developing, optimising, and maintaining short, medium, and long-term plans to support safe, efficient, and cost-effective operations. The role requires close collaboration with the design, construction, and contractor teams to ensure that designs and schedules align with resource models, operational requirements, and client objectives. Some of the duties entail:

  • Weekly update to WWM Project Manager
  • Bi-Weekly EPCM meeting minutes, including S-curves
  • Monthly EPCM reports
  • Manage individual contractors’ schedules to be updated in the Baseline schedule
  • Produce ad hoc reports for the client regarding schedules, etc.
  • Notify the client of any delays by way of NFTR
  • Assist with completion of out-of-scope work, schedules, AFE’s, SI’s etc
  • Assist with the master file for cash flow
  • Assist with estimations for future work packages
  • Attend weekly contractual meetings, kick-off meetings and review meetings

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain short, medium, and long-term mine schedules.
  • Produce accurate designs and schedules using industry-standard software.
  • Liaise with design, construction, and contracting teams to ensure plans and schedules are practical and achievable.
  • Support the annual budget and forecasting processes with reliable planning data.
  • Perform scenario analysis and optimisation studies.
  • Ensure all schedules comply with the Mine Health & Safety Act (MHSA) and other statutory requirements.
  • Contribute to feasibility studies and provide technical schedule planning input for projects.
  • Maintain accurate scheduling databases and provide regular progress and compliance reports.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Degree / Diploma or equivalent.
  • 3–5 years’ experience in mine planning/scheduling
  • Proficiency in mine planning software (e.g., Deswik, Datamine, Surpac, MineSched, Vulcan, MS Projects).
  • Knowledge of mining methods, construction methods and standards.
  • Understanding of relevant safety, legal, and environmental regulations.
  • Registration with ECSA or equivalent professional body (advantageous).

Human Resources Manager

We are seeking a highly experienced and assertive HR Manager to lead and manage the full Human Resources and Industrial Relations function within our mining operations in South Africa.

The incumbent will oversee all employees, contractors, and service providers operating within the company’s mining right area, ensuring full compliance with South African labour legislation, mining regulations, and company policies.

This role requires a strong Human Resources knowledge, Labour Law, Department of Labour legislation requirements and Industrial Relations (IR) with proven contractor management and reporting experience within the mining or heavy industrial sector.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage the full HR function across the mining operation.
  • Develop and implement HR strategies aligned with operational and business objectives.
  • Ensure compliance with all South African labour legislation and mining-related employment requirements.
  • Drive performance management, succession planning, and talent development initiatives.
  • Adherence to Social and Labour Plan (HRD & EE) requirements.

Strong Focus

  • Lead all IR matters, including disciplinary processes, grievances, dispute resolution, and CCMA representation.
  • Manage union relationships and negotiations.
  • Provide strategic IR guidance to line management.
  • Ensure consistent application of labour policies and procedures.
  • Oversee all contractors operating within the mining right.
  • Ensure contractors comply with company policies, labour laws, EE requirements, and site standards.
  • Monitor workforce compliance, workforce planning, and contractor headcount control.
  • Conduct contractor audits and compliance reviews.

Employment Equity & Compliance

  • Drive and manage Employment Equity (EE) compliance in line with South African legislation.
  • Prepare and submit statutory reports (EE Reports, Workplace Skills Plans, ATR, etc.).
  • Support transformation and diversity initiatives.
  • Ensure compliance with the Mining Charter and related transformation targets.

Reporting & Governance

  • Provide monthly, quarterly, and annual HR and IR reports to senior management.
  • Present workforce analytics and trends to Exco / Board where required.
  • Manage HR budgets and cost controls.
  • Ensure accurate HR data management and reporting integrity.
  • Provide reports to the Department of Labour and the Department of Petroleum, Mineral and Resources.

Minimum Requirements & Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in human resources / industrial psychology / Labour Law or related field (Required).
  • Postgraduate qualification in HR / Labour Law / Industrial Relations (Advantageous or Required).

Experience

  • 5–10 years’ HR Management experience within the mining environment.
  • Proven strong Industrial Relations experience (essential).
  • Experience managing contractors within a regulated industrial site.
  • Demonstrated reporting experience at a senior management level.
