Roles & Responsibilities

·       Health and Safety in terms of Mines Health and Safety Act 2.13.1 appointment.

·       Ensure that continuous and systematic engineering maintenance, service and improvements take place in order to meet the short and long term engineering demands required by Harmony so that production targets are achieved.

·       To improve overall performance in their area of responsibility which requires continuous investigation and evaluation of new methodologies, practices and procedures to complement operational improvements and to maintain current engineering processes.

·       Ensure compliance with all statutory legislation pertaining to the Engineering discipline within their area of responsibility.

·       Enforces engineering technical standards and codes of practice.

·       Management of capital projects and other projects.

·       Monitor operational effectiveness of engineering support functions.

·       Promote team effectiveness, team relations and competence of engineering staff.

·       Control project expenditure, budget vs forecast.

·       Build a motivated and unified performance driven team and to manage service providers, contract management and other affected parties.

·       Comply with management of change processes to respond to project risks & opportunities. Facilitate risk assessments.

·       To render Health and Safety, project management, maintenance management and planning, salvage and technical assistance to support the operational processes.

Please note that the duties and responsibilities may not be limited to the above stipulated.

Minimum Requirements:

• Tertiary qualification in Engineering (as required by GCC).
• Government Certificate of Competency Mines and Works with at least 5 years’ post GCC experience in the mining environment.
• English proficiency.
• Computer literate (Including MS Office, Ms Projects).
• Valid Certificate of Fitness or the ability to obtain one.
• Valid Driver’s License.

Advantageous:

• A recognised Project Management qualification with at least 5 years project Management experience.
• Previous substantive appointment as an Engineer or subordinate Engineer.
• Design experience
• Contractor management experience.

Certified copies of Qualifications, Certificates and Identity Document required.

Appointment will be done in accordance with our Employment Equity Plan.
