Position Purpose

Position Outputs

Lead all environmental activities in the Port by providing a comprehensive environmental support to the Port’s internal & external clients to facilitate legal compliance and ensure that environmental management principles & practices are entrenched and applied in the Port.

Position Purpose

• Collating of information and investigation of variances against the budget in preparation of the monthly management reports
• Collection of data for the preparation of the annual operating and capital budget and consolidation thereof
• Co-ordination of minor works submission and collation of data for the preparation of viability models
• Collection of data and input to support the implementation of terminal costing model to assist in financial decision-making

Position Outputs

1. Investigation of cost variances against targets and presentation of analysis to MA.
2. Preparation of management accounting statistics/numbers and investigation of qualitative reasons supporting the monthly reports to be prepared by the Management Accountant.
3. Collection of data and preparation/consolidation of budget schedules for review by the Management accountant aligned to the Transnet strategic objectives and budget guidelines disseminated from TPT HQ
4. Obtaining relevant information to prepare specific project and terminal viability models to support capital investment decisions and update the terminal viability models on a quarterly basis
5. Co-ordinate the approval of minor works submissions for the terminal, ensuring all the relevant documents have been duly completed
6. Preparation of monthly cost centre reports for review and sign off by the Cost centre Managers
7. Adhoc costings
8. Collating data and input for the development and maintenance of terminal costing models
9. Analysis of cost drivers with a view to improving efficiencies and reducing costs
10. Provision of information as and when required by the MA, FM or Head office on an ad hoc basis

Position Purpose

To represent the fleet department in overall responsibility and accountability whilst operating in port limits for all aspects of the maintenance and operating of propulsion engines, other engines, deck machinery, refrigeration and sanitary equipment, aboard the vessel by coordinating and directing subordinates whilst complying with statutory laws, company policies and safety regulations, thereby ensuring maximum dredger availability

Position Outputs

1. Plan, compile and control annual lay-up maintenance to ensure that expenditure remains within the parameters set by the fleet department
2. Training and development of cadet engineers and ongoing training of certificated engineers to enhance marine engineering skills and practices
3. Liaise with and control external contractors to ensure that the maintenance and repairs are carried out within set time frames and conform to speculations
4. Liaise with maintenance manager to ensure that critical and other spares available timely in order to optimise utilisation and production of the vessel
5. Ensure international and local maritime laws and practices are conformed to thereby ensuring the safety and wellbeing of vessel and crew
6. Control the ordering of and optimal consumption of fuel and lubricating oils thereby optimising the utilisation of the vessel and minimise expenditure
7. Plan and control preventative maintenance systems to ensure problem free running of all machinery thereby minimising downtime
8. Practice loss control by regular inspections of machinery spaces to determine unsafe acts and correcting where necessary
9. Plan and organise the preparation of the vessel to proceed to sea ensuring that all safety measures regarding seaworthiness are intact
