Marketing and Communication Internship

The State Diamond Trader is a state-owned entity established in terms of Section 14 of the Diamonds Amendment Act, 29 of 2005. It is classified as a Schedule 3b entity of the Public Finance Management Act (PFMA). We invite self-motivated and suitably qualified graduates who wish to start their career through the below internship:

Position Type:                       2-Year Fixed Term Internship Programme Contract

Remuneration:                     R180,000 Annual Total Guaranteed Package

Position Purpose: The Marketing and Communication Intern is a graduate position whereby the intern will be trained for 6 months in Marketing and Communication general functions of the State Diamond Trader. After 6 months training, the Intern will provide administration functions/support to ensure visibility of the State Diamond Trader brand.

Requirements: NQF level 7 qualification degree in related fields of communication/journalism, marketing/Graphic Design.

Skills and Competences: Knowledge of a good article writing principles. Basic knowledge of management of social media platforms. Basic designing of social media posters. Strong organisation and attention to detail. Knowledge of MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook). Strong written and verbal communication skills. Willingness to learn new programs. Needs to be responsible and have effective time management skills, which includes prioritising tasks effectively. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Ability to follow instructions.

Key Accountabilities: During the first six (6) months, the Intern will be trained to be able to execute below accountabilities: Creating communication media: presentations, posters and flyers. Circulate communication media to the targeted audience. Follow-up and management of press relations. Press impact analysis. Writing press materials. Coordination of digital communication channels: social media, mails, and website. Coordination of public relations: events, invitations, and information. Implement the media plan. Provide photographic services to SDT functions. Poster Development. Draft internal newsletters. Draft the Marketing and communication concept document. Provide assistance for the SDT brand material exhibition during events.

Company Secretariate and Legal Compliance Internship

Position Purpose: The position purpose is to assist the unit with implementing all administrative processes and procedures and supporting other State Diamond Trader departments on Board and Legal administration matters after receiving six (6) months internship training of the position.

Requirements: LLB Graduate. This internship programme is suitable for a candidate who wants to pursue his/her career towards being the Company Secretary, Legal Officer and/or Governance Advisor within the corporate sector and or state-owned entities.

Skills and Competences: Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills. Attention to detail. Strong ethics and integrity. Ability and sensitivity to handle confidential information. Ability to build relationships with other departments. Planning and organising skills. Report writing skills

Key Accountabilities: After the first six (6) internship training, the Intern will be able to: provide support in the following, among other things, matters. Prepare and issuing notices of meetings. Prepare the agenda and supporting documentation for meetings. Compile meetings packs. Coordinate meeting logistics. Draft Committee and Board minutes. Liaise with Board and Committee members on general secretariat queries. Coordinate filing and correspondence for the unit. Drafting of all business contracts. Provide general legal advice to internal stakeholders. Record and update monthly progress for addressing Audit findings by Business Units.
