Librarian

The Legal Practice Council (LPC) is currently embarking on a process to fill vacant positions in the National Office and KwaZulu Natal Provincial Office.
Vacancy : Librarian
Provincial Office : Kwa-Zulu Natal (Durban): Ref No: NO05/2025
CTC Salary Package : R386 888 all-inclusive package p.a.

Minimum Appointment Requirements
Matric/Grade 12 Certificate; ▪ National Diploma in Library Science; ▪ 1 to 2 years’ experience within a library environment; ▪ Degree in Library Science is an advantage; ▪ Legal Practice Act, No. 28 of 2014; ▪Rules of the LPC; ▪Library Processes and Procedures; ▪Library Integrated Systems and Databases/Search engines; ▪Research and Sourcing Methodologies; ▪Information Retrieval and Sharing.

Key Responsibilities
Administer and maintain library systems i.e. catalogues, issue systems, Kardex, annotations and journal index; ▪Process and maintain library materials; ▪Trace information from law reports, legislation, journal articles, books and web documents; ▪Process all new books, journals, law reports, legislation and other literature to ensure availability to clients as soon as possible; ▪Follow up on fines that are overdue ; ▪Track photocopies completed and fine monies received; ▪Update internal databases (i.e. catalogue, user database, legislation database, proclamations and CPI) ; ▪Upload user information into the system; ▪Assist in the evaluation of existing library material to feed into future purchasing of material; ▪Update loose leaf publications and monitor correct filing; ▪Maintain book currency by replacing new issues and volumes; ▪Input into the collation of Help Desk statistics ; ▪Record all incoming and outgoing correspondences; ▪Conduct research for clients; ▪Handle client enquiries via walk-ins, email, SMS and telephone; ▪Assist users in tracing and locating library material; ▪Conduct library orientation classes for legal
practitioners; ▪Maintain a clean and safe library at all times, and ensure that library material is correctly placed to facilitate ease of retrieval.

Bookkeeper: Curatorship & Audits

(6 months fixed-term contract)

Province : Gauteng (National Office: Midrand) Ref No: NO06/2025
CTC Salary Package : R28 000 p.m.

Minimum Appointment Requirements
Matric (Grade 12); ▪ Diploma in Accounting (NQF Level 6) ; ▪5 years’ bookkeeping experience (for NQF Level 6) or alternatively 4 years bookkeeping experience (for NQF Level 7) ; ▪ B. Com Accounting (NQF Level 7) is an advantage; ▪ Experience working with Sage X3 is an advantage ; ▪ MS Office; ▪ Preparation of accounting records for legal practitioner trust accounts; ▪ Financial and bookkeeping principles; ▪ ERP accounting systems (preferably Sage X3 or Sage 300) ; ▪ Ability to process journal entries

Key Responsibilities
Liaise with provincial offices to obtain the bank statements in all curatorship matters; ▪Manage requests for information and queries with all provincial offices; ▪Liaise with provincial office staff regarding the allocation of transactions; ▪Log any technical issues with the SAGE system with support and ensure remediation; ▪Preparation of training manuals; ▪ Maintain records of the financial affairs of all curatorship matters on a monthly basis ; ▪ Upload copies of all bank statements on MS Teams and Sage X3; ▪ Bank reconciliations; ▪ Investigation of all items in the suspense account; ▪Provide monthly reports on the movement of curatorship balances; ▪Analyze and summarize the curator balances and movements per province; ▪Present financial reports to the National Manager: Curators and Audits on a monthly basis; ▪Assist with reporting to the Legal Practitioners Fidelity Fund

Administrator: Regulatory

CTC Salary Package : R279 245 all-inclusive package p.a.

Minimum Appointment Requirements
Matric (Grade 12); ▪ National Diploma in Administration or similar (NQF 6); ▪2 years administrative experience; ▪ Computer literacy (MS Office). ▪ MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook); ▪ Knowledge of Legal Practice Act.

Key Responsibilities
Open files as instructed; ▪ Capture data into systems ; ▪ Type standard letters; ▪ SMSs and emails; ▪ Prepare claims; ▪ Collect and distribute post; ▪ Sort and send faxes; ▪ Make photocopies of documentation; ▪ Input into the preparation of departmental reports; ▪ Complete requisitions for the department; ▪ Maintain relevant departmental database; ▪ Prepare documentation for audits; ▪ Schedule meetings and coordinate logistical arrangements; ▪ Arrange for teleconference facilities ; ▪ Coordinate the submission of reports for Council and committees; ▪ Perform administrative duties, as assigned, which are department-related
e.g. preparing certificates, raising invoices, etc. ; ▪ Adhere to stipulated timeframes in the carrying out of administrative duties; ▪ Maintain up-to-date and accurate files of all correspondence and documentation; ▪ Liaise with the Document Warehouse on collection of documentation for storage as per company policy and procedure, where applicable; ▪ Assist with uplifting and offloading of files; ▪ Retrieve files from archives and dispatch documents on request from practitioners; ▪ Assist in the handing
of general telephonic enquiries, escalating for query resolution when required; ▪ Attend to walk-in enquiries; ▪ Handle visitors and attend to general enquiries; ▪ Keep a record of all correspondence and enquiries.
