Engineer Mine Ventilation

Introduction

Establish, analyse, review and give strategic technical direction regarding operational ventilation standards. Establish effective ventilation solutions through the Life of Mine cycle to ensure the mine ventilation is not constrained and complies with legal requirements for ventilating underground workings. Ensure that all statutory responsibilities and obligations are fulfilled. Ensure that operational objectives are achieved by defining and coordinating ventilation requirements. Ensure that the mine complies with all legal requirements under the MHSA Section 12.1 and all related sections and regulations. Ensure that the mine is supported by modeled and optimized ventilation strategies to deliver ventilation system solutions to support executable Mine designs.

Job description

•    Plan, implement, control and monitor approved changes to area of responsibility to respond to changes in the industry, legislation, and other related matters including transformation and optimisation.

      Assist with workplace readiness assessment.
•    Identify recurring problems and derive creative solutions involving team members.

      Recognise and reward team member efforts.
•    Implement compliance requirements. Communicate compliance changes.
•    Plan, direct and assess Quality Management within sub-function and recommend remedial actions where necessary to ensure adherence to TQM principles.
•    Provide input into functional planning. Interpret functional plan and develop sub-functional plans.
•    Ensure operational plan is implemented.
•    Manage the efficient and effective utilisation of resources. Optimise systems and processes continuously to ensure production efficiency targets and operational plans are met.
•    Optimise the core operational internal processes and internal supply chain and resolve operational conflicts.
•    Identify hazardous conditions and practices proactively. Analyse, evaluate and rectify conditions and practices.
•    Conduct physical audits and inspections to determine control effectiveness and determine implementation using checklists. Investigate over exposures.
•    Design and implement long term ventilation plans and systems. Review and ensure appropriate working conditions at the mine / operational areas are in place. 
•    Ensure that precautionary measures are taken to prevent or suppress explosions and that adequate measures are in place to prevent, detect and combat the start and spread of mine fires.

Minimum requirements

•    Certificate: Grade 12 (Required).
•    BSc/B-Tech Degree: Mining Engineering/ Occupational Hygiene, Environmental Health (Required)
•    Certificate: Advanced Mine Environmental Control  (Required)
•    Code B;Motor vehicle licence

•    3 Years’ MHSA 12.1 Appointee including acting
•    5 years’ Ventilation control, operations and management systems

Engineering Supervisor Mechanic

Conduct roofbolter inspections and install roofbolts in accordance to hanging wall support plan. To render support with ad hoc tasks and adhere to safety procedures and mine standards.

•     Identify and report unsafe and hazardous situations in work area. Participate in safety meetings. 
•    Take care of your own safety and the safety of fellow employees.
•    Comply with Quality standards and deliver in a manner that support and meet operational quality standards.
•    Contribute to team performance.
•    Participate in change initiatives.
•    Comply with disciplinary and behavioural rules and procedures.
•    Complete documentation accurately and in full.
•    Propose ideas or practical improvements relevant to tasks. Participate in improvement initiatives.

•    Operate roofbolter according to production plan requirements. Identify sub performance. Report deviations. Render support with ad hoc tasks. 
•    Do not operate in any area if that area was not declared safe by the Miner in charge.

Operator Trucks – Fixed Term

•    Fuel vehicles to ensure continuous operation
•    Only operate in a working place if such working place was declared safe by the relevant miner in charge.
•    Complete pre-start check list accurately and record all equipment defects or potential defects.

Payroll Administrator

Introduction

To administrate all payroll processes effectively, accurately and timely to ensure correct information to payroll in line with policies and procedures.

Job description

•    Ensure proper document control by processing, filing and appropriate distribution to all relevant parties.

•    Ensure documents are compliant for auditing purposes by verifying information recorded and taking remedial         action where necessary.
•    Activate Garnishee elements and banks for new Garnishee orders. Assume responsibility for garnishee administration and reconciliations as and when required. 
•    Relieving and assisting the Payroll administrator as and when required. Assume responsibility for D-E level car insurance
•    Perform various reconciliations i.e. employee benefits as and when required to ensure accuracy of information and data and submit to relevant external administrator, once reviewed by Payroll administrator. Banking and Rate Changes. 
•    Liaise with external customers regarding monthly deductions e.g. SARS, Provident / Retirement Fund. Responsible to registering of all new employees with SARS. 
•    Prepare month end deduction reports to all external and internal customers.
•    Check and liaise with internal and external customers regarding queries pertaining to payroll transactions and take remedial action where required. 
•    Liaise with internal and external customers on system functions. Resolve employee benefit queries i.e. Pension/ provident fund timely. 
•    Resolve all other queries timely and accurately, thereby meeting customer needs

Minimum requirements

•    Certificate: Grade 12 (Required)
•    Payroll Certificate ( NQF Level 5) 

•    3 Years’ Payroll administration
