Shift Supervisor Mining

1. PURPOSE OF THE ROLE

• The Shift Supervisor Mining has the legal accountability with a 2.15.1 appointment in terms of the Minerals Act and Regulations and is responsible to ensure compliance to legal requirements and management specifics, and the completion of records pertaining to his/her area of responsibility, as stipulated by the regulations

1. WORK OF ROLE

• Receiving and forwarding the ordering of all required material and resources
• Application of legal, operational and standard compliance with regards to work, machinery and equipment inspections and the recording thereof as stipulated in section 2.15.1 of the Minerals Act
• Completing all the required checklists, reports, etc.
• Investigating incidents/accidents and property damage
• Maintaining/monitoring formal records for area
• Monitoring of environmental conditions for compliance to legal and management specifics
• Monitoring performance of all activities and advice where applicable to enhance productive achievement
• Monitoring performances for compliance to legal and management specifics
• Monitoring shift activities to ensure maximum production output
• Obtaining and posting all relevant reports, instructions and statistics received from economic resource departments
• Planning production for the area of responsibility
• Supporting section objectives

1. QUALIFICATIONS

• Grade 12
• Blasting Certificate
• Shift Supervisor Certificate
• Mining related Diploma / Degree / Mine Overseer Certificate – Advantageous

1. EXPERIENCE

• Minimum 3 years’ experience as a Miner in stoping and developing

1. KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS

• First Aid Certificate
• Certificate of Fitness
• Mine Health and Safety Act knowledge:
• Regulation 2.15.1 – 2.15.4. Shift Supervisor, Appointment and Duties.
• Regulation 2.15.2. Shift Supervisor will be the holder of a Permanent Blasting Certificate.
• Regulation 2.15.3. Size of a Shift Supervisor section.
• Regulation 2.15.4. Shift Supervisor to ensure proper Observance and Compliance to the regulations.
• Regulation 2.15.5. Shift Supervisor to inspect.
• Regulation 2.15.6. Shift Supervisor Logbook recording.
• Regulation 2.15.7. Record to be open to inspection
• Regulation 2.15.8. Not to take charge of Gang.

Fitter (UG) (Winder)

• This role has a 2.9.2 appointment in terms of the MHSA, Act of 1996: maintain, install and commission engineering components of the machinery and equipment to an agreed standard in the area of responsibility.

• Attend to breakdowns and emergencies as required
• Conducts and participate in risk assessments
• Maintains a high quality of work
• Performing work to the required standards and specifications
• Records results of all legal examinations in the appropriate format

• Fitter Trade Certificate

1. EXPERIENCE

• Minimum of 2 years’ experience in the mining environment

1. KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS

• English literate (speak, read and write)
• Must be able to do standby and overtime
• Must be familiar with risk assessments procedures
• Valid driving license code 08
• Basic computer skills

Shaft Surveyor

1. PURPOSE OF THE ROLE

• The Shaft Surveyor is responsible for managing the specialist survey and services and expertise at a shaft. In terms of the MSHA it is a 17.2 appointment

1. WORK OF ROLE

• Achieving legal compliance (survey)
• Adhere to the requirements of the Regulations of the Minerals Acts as applicable to Mine Surveying
• Compiling survey and evaluation plans
• Compiling survey and evaluation plans
• Compiling, designing and reports and plans appropriate to the surveying function
• Ensuring availability of electronic production survey plans
• Implementing effective controls & procedures
• Issuing survey instructions and notifications (Survey and Holing Notes)
• Maintaining DMR plans
• Maintaining MPRDA survey legal compliance
• Maintaining MPRDA survey legal compliance
• Maintaining survey plans
• Managing the activities of the survey and evaluation teams
• Monthly reporting according to standard
• Planning monthly survey and evaluation requirement and priorities
• Preparing mine plans (survey)
• Supervising legal compliance to procedures and standards
• Supervising the measurement of underground production performance

1. QUALIFICATIONS

• Grade 12
• Mine Surveyors Certificate of Competency
• National Higher Diploma or Btech or Graduate Diploma in Engineering – Advantageous

4.EXPERIENCE

• Minimum of 5 years’ experience in mine surveying
• Additional experience in mine evaluation, must obtain MS (SAIMM or MSSA) membership (or equivalent) after appointment

• Competent as 17.2 appointment
• Valid driver’s license
• Computer literate for necessary systems
• Check survey experience
