The role is responsible for extracting hidden insights from data that can inform strategic decisions using cutting-edge statistical and machine learning techniques.Critical Outputs

  • Ensure that Life Healthcare can drive business value through predictive and prescriptive analytics.
  • Apply statistical and machine learning techniques to extract insights from structured and unstructured datasets to solve specific problems of business stakeholders.
  • Identify opportunities for additional value-adding insights from data analysis.

Requirements

  • Minimum Bachelors and preferably Honours-level degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Actuarial Science, Economics or a cognate analytical field, or other equivalent qualifications.
  • 2+ years of experience in an analytics environment, using statistical and machine learning techniques.
  • Commitment to continuous learning and sharpening of skills.
  • Specific coding language experience (Python/R/SAS/SQL) would be an advantage
  • Good communication skills.
  • Understanding data architecture and pipelines and engaging effectively with the team responsible for ensuring that data delivery meets analytical needs.
  • Demonstrated ability to analyse and interpret complex problems or processes that span multiple business areas, identify and understand requirements, and develop alternate solutions.
  • Ability to translate complex analytical concepts into a digestible and understandable way for the business stakeholder.

An opportunity exists for an unemployed learner to participate in an internship in the Enterprise Risk Management and Compliance disciplines.  This internship will offer an enthusiastic and driven young graduate a unique opportunity to showcase their skills-set while gaining valuable work experience as well as acquiring necessary business competencies within the Life Healthcare Group.

The learners must be graduates of a relevant undergraduate or post graduate degree in Risk or Compliance Management, Financial Management or Business Management and will be based at the Life Healthcare Head office in Dunkeld, Johannesburg for a period of 12 months.

The successful candidate will be required to support and assist the Group Risk Manager and the Group Compliance Lead in the implementation of the Group Enterprise Risk Management Framework and the Group Compliance Framework. This will involve working closely with and assisting the Senior Enterprise Risk Managers and the Privacy Officer as they carry out their roles and responsibilities related to embedding a culture of sound risk management practices and ensuring high levels of compliance with laws and regulations, including but not limited to, privacy laws. 

The internship will be registered with the HWSETA.  Interns will receive a stipend of R 6,000 per month for 12 months.Critical Outputs

  • Learners must be unemployed to qualify for this project.
  • Only South African citizens under the age of 35 will be considered.
  • Learners must have completed their qualification to participate in this project.

Duties and responsibilities

  • Assist with updating the elements of the risk management, compliance and privacy frameworks.
  • Support the Risk and Compliance functions in ensuring that these frameworks and the respective strategies are implemented affectively across the Group.
  • Assist with all administrative requirements as assigned by the Group Risk Manager and the Group Compliance Lead (or delegate).

  • Review and align the categorization of incidents based on local and international definitions as required from time to time

Continuous Improvement of patient experience  

  • Work closely with their colleagues within the Quality Department and Clinical functions to identify areas for improvement and develop improvement strategies

  • Development of new work procedures, reviewing and updating existing work procedures related to incident management, compliments and complaints management and all aspects related to patient experience.

Training and support

  • Any training related to patient experience documents or processes including the Life Healthcare CARE programme

Requirements

  • A Tertiary Qualification (Nursing or Health Sciences)
  • Background in patient/customer experience management in a healthcare setting
  • Experience with customer relationship management, complaints and adverse event management
  • Track record of improving patient/customer experience
  • At least 5-8 years’ experience would be required
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Powerpoint and Word)
