Key Responsibilities TECHNICAL KNOWLEDGE
1.1 Ensure that internal processes and quality standards are aligned with the Retail Division
1.2 Align with the Merchandise and Production department to ensure that garments are
costed and made in the most production friendly way
1.3 Ensure that standards for construction are created and adhered to
1.4 Ensure a Block Library is created and maintained
1.5 Responsible that all technical information required for garment production, is correct
and resolving any issues that may arise
1.6 Responsible for systems and procedures to be implemented as well as training and
support to all staff

SYSTEMS & PROCESSES
1.1 Effectively and efficiently manages the team to ensure budgeted outputs are achieved
1.2 Ability to put corrective action plans in place and/or revise processes if the above are not
achieved
1.3 Work closely with the Merchandise and Production Team, to plan the flow through the
department and ensure deadline dates are met
1.4 Accurately records sample briefs received from the Merchandising Team
1.5 Accurately records when samples are either Fit or PP approved
1.6 Demonstrates an understanding of the merchandise related computer system Sync
1.7 Update allocated Sync tasks timeously
1.8 Ensure machinery and equipment is maintained and in good working order
Qualifications and Experience QUALIFICATIONS: Diploma in Clothing Design/Pattern making
Pattern Technology (Gerber/Lectra), Grading and Marker making
COMPUTER LITERACY: Good Excel skills to generate reports

Minimum 5 – 8 years exsperience in a similar role
Strong Garment Construction Knowledge
Multiple product type knowledge and construction methods
Good understanding of garment manufacturing processes as well as
garment finishing processes
Basic awareness of fabric shrinkage/reactions and how this relates to
pattern making and final end product

Job Description We have an exciting job opportunity that has become available for an experienced Garment Technologist within the Design Division.

The role will be based at our Head Office in Cape Town.

We are looking for a candidate who has at least three years’ experience in a similar role.
Key Responsibilities
Quality control monitoring of goods manufactured at CMTs, and service providers including but not limited to: Cutting, printing, embroidery, pleating and finishing services;
Liaison with Design Division Garment Technologists on quality issues;
Liaison with Design Division technical teams and operations managers and planners;
AQL reports and S4 reports;
Reporting and monitoring of all quality issues arising at the factory and the implementation of and measurement of action plans and mentoring/training for improvement;
Daily reports to Head Office;
Able to manage priority workloads, appointments and schedules;
Lead fit sessions from initial sample through to final production;
Ensuring clear and concise fit comments are communicated to suppliers or factories;
Work closely with the Sample Room (Pattern Makers and Technical Manager) to support the fit development process from a technical perspective;
Involvement in the on-boarding and mentoring of CMT’s regarding technical standards;
Management of the CMT base to ensure they have the correct quality standards, construction methods and AQL’s;
To have an understanding of current regulations, legislation and standards relating to all aspects of clothing manufacture.
Qualifications and Experience
Experience in a Quality Assurance role;
Minimum three (3) or more years in a similar position or level of responsibility;
Pattern making background advantageous;
Clothing manufacturing experience in a factory environment;
Solid garment construction, fabric and garment trims and embroidery knowledge;
Involvement in the drafting and implementation of QA standards manuals;
Handle quality queries with CMT’s;
Ability to travel to suppliers’ manufacturing facilities with a valid code 8 drivers licence;
Basic computer literacy and excel skills.

Key Responsibilities

  • Populates cost card and ensure that costings are fully and accurately updated to the point of Price Proposal. Inform Merchandiser once done. It is critical to ensure that deadline due dates are met • Take note of styling changes at cost negotiation stage between Merchandiser and Buyer, and make sure that the BOM is reflective of what has been confirmed • Diligently follows up on print and embroidery costings to ensure that they are submitted within the set deadlines • Once receiving the initial order, sends the Fabric Buyer the approved costing and contract to ensure that the bulk fabric order can be placed within set deadlines • Source Special Trims , send to vendors to obtain the most cost-effective price and submit for Buyer approval • Ensures that the costings and contracts are sent to the Trims Buyer to order the bulk trims so that bulk trim orders can be placed within set deadlines • Issue Print Panel and Embroidery Strike-Offs, send to Vendors and submit for Buyer Approval PRE-PRODUCTION • Efficiently compiles and issue the 1st Fit sample pack to the sample room. Ensuring all necessary information, fabric and trims are available for the sample room to execute as per the brief • Check Fit comments – issue re-rates (discuss with Merchandiser). Notify Fabric and Trim Buyers of any changes • Effectively and efficiently ensures that off bulk fabric and trims have been delivered in time to issue pre-production sample packs to the sample room • Ensure that pre-production samples are correct and sent timeously for sealing • Critical to be aware of any changes that impacts on the Margin negatively. This must be escalated to the Merchandiser immediately to see how we can improve the Margin if possible • Constant liaison with vendors, buyers and internal stake-holders on day-to-day issues • Demonstrate a sense of urgency in meeting deadlines and operates effectively under pressurised time constraints GENERAL ADMINISTRATION • Assisting the Merchandiser in receiving and compiling new customer briefs • Challenges the efficiency and effectiveness of systems and proposes modifications • Maintains a neat and efficient workstation and filing system • Effectively and efficiently follows up on strike offs, approvals and sample submissions • Effectively and efficiently handles adhoc queries

  • Digitising hard copy patterns into the Lectra / Gerber pattern system.
  • Maintain pattern numbering system within fit categories.
    Position markers
  • Supply of position markers and templates for new and existing styles.
  • Ensuring that print sizes are in ratio for garment sizes.
    Sample briefs
  • Working with the sample co-ordinator and pattern maker to turn around sample briefs in within the required sample turn around period.
  • Supplying sample patterns for repeat styles with corresponding position markers.
    Pattern changes
  • Carrying minor styling changes on patterns within the Lectra / Gerber pattern system.
  • Deletion and addition of patterns within the system in accordance with fit specification changes.
    Qualifications and Experience • The applicant must have completed a course in pattern making on the Lectra / Gerber computerised pattern system or have gained experience on manual pattern making.
    Competencies • A consistent methodical approach to pattern storage and numbering is required which enables entire department to identify and apply correct patterns to styles/fits
