GENERAL ACCOUNTABILITY:

  • Monitor and assess the risk exposure of the commodities portfolio.

  • Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with commodity and logistics suppliers, customers, brokers, and industry peers.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Relevant Tertiary Qualification.

Based in South Africa, the successful candidate will be part of Glencore’s global Credit Risk team for the metals & mining division. You will be responsible for financial and macroeconomic analysis, monitoring and updating credit ratings, managing counterparty exposures, assessing limit appetite and staying up to date with market news to make informed risk-based decisions.

Responsibilities:

  • Work closely with project directors, engineering, construction, and other functions to ensure financial discipline and alignment with project goals.
  • Review detailed budget and schedule analyses, and financial analyses to support strategic decision-making. 
  • Coordinate all critical Capital project inputs for the LoA and budget cycles to ensure overall capital portfolio consist of effective delivery plans and alignment to strategic project objectives
  • Drive capital and operating expenditure budget reviews, monitor equipment and fleet requirements, and manage performance on set business frequencies (e.g. monthly and quarterly review cycles)
  • Adherence to company policies and procedures

Experience

  • Experience in portfolio delivery and management

  • Familiarity with project governance, capital management, and financial reporting standards

  • Knowledge of Primavera P6, SAP ERP and SAP PS/EPPM preferred.  
  • Proven experience with brownfield project design and execution.

Your training, skills & expertise checklist:

  • Ability to develops and implements long-term strategic plans for mine development and operations, aligning short-term plans with overall business goals.
  • Tertiary Qualifications – Engineering, Construction management, Project management and/or related disciplines.
  • 10+ years of estimating experience in large-scale and complex projects, including but not limited to Civil, Structural and MEP (Mechanical, Electrical & Piping).
  • 5+ years’ experience in a similar role within the resources industry. Experience within mining and/or EPC/EPCM companies will be a plus.
  • Demonstrated skills to identify, analyse and solve problems in a logical, expedient, and decisive manner.  Technical knowledge of project control, engineering, procurement, contract administration and construction techniques. 
  • Proficiency in general costing and estimating systems, cost control, change management and trending programs.
  • Strong understanding of project control management considering different contract delivery models.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills across all levels of the organization with ability to leverage networking capabilities to drive and influence decisions. 
  • Experience working in Africa would be advantageous.
  • English language skills. French would be advantageous.
  • Ability to travel up to 30% of the time.

Ventilation and Occupational Hygiene Engineering (VOHE) Officer

The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring optimal inspections, legislation and company policies and procedures on all matters concerning Occupational Hygiene Engineering are implemented, monitored and complied within area of responsibility.

In this role you will be responsible for:

  • Compiling mandatory Occupational Hygiene monthly, quarterly and annual reports.
  • Assessing workplace stressors for Airborne Pollutants, Thermal stress, Noise, and developing a strategy and monitoring program as per the DMRE Guidelines.
  • Conducting self-propelled mobile machinery and area illumination and noise survey.
  • Sampling and analysing of potable water.
  • Analysing and reporting of hazardous chemicals.
  • Compiling baseline and issue-based risks assessments for all stressors encountered.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Relevant Tertiary Qualification (NQF level 6) and Intermediate Certificate in Mine Environmental Control OR
  • Advance Certificate in Mine Environmental Control.
  • Driver’s license (Code EB/08).

Minimum Experience:

  • 2 Years’ experience in Occupational Hygiene or completed Graduate Development Programme
  • Competent in hygiene measurement techniques.

Behavioural Competencies:

  • Consciousness for details and the ability to produce consistently high quality and accurate work.
  • Ability to apply practical skills and common sense to solve problems and deliver accountabilities.
  • Ability to work consistently hard to achieve deliverables and honour commitments made.
