The Alternative Information & Development Centre (AIDC) is a progressive research and advocacy organisation working for economic justice,  and socially just alternatives in South Africa.

AIDC is seeking a highly organised, efficient, and dependable Administrative Officer & Logistics Coordinator to manage logistics for a wide range of organisational activities, including conferences, workshops, festivals, marches, demonstrations, and meetings. The role also includes administrative responsibilities and personal assistant support to the AIDC Coordinator.

This position requires someone who is calm under pressure, able to juggle multiple tasks, and comfortable working in a fast-paced, politically engaged environment.

Roles and Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan and coordinate logistics for events of all sizes
  • Book and manage venues, accommodation, flights, transport, catering, and related services
  • Liaise with service providers, hotels, airlines, and suppliers
  • Provide on-the-ground logistical support during events
  • Handle general office administration and coordination support
  • Maintain accurate records of bookings, invoices, and logistics costs
  • Maintain AIDC’s database
  • Provide administrative and diary-management support to the AIDC Coordinator
  • Work closely with programme staff and finance team to ensure smooth operations

Qualifications and Requirements

Required Skills & Experience

  • Proven experience in administration and logistics coordination
  • Strong organisational, time-management, and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work well under pressure and meet tight deadlines
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • High level of attention to detail and reliability
  • Strong teamwork ethic
  • Proficiency in email, word processing, and basic spreadsheets

Desirable

  • Experience working in NGOs, trade unions, social movements, or civil society organisations
  • Experience organising conferences, political events, or mass actions
  • Willingness to work flexible hours, including occasional evenings and weekends
  • Commitment to social justice and progressive values

Humana People to People in South Africa seeks to recruit five Social Workers. The successful applicants will be based in the districts of Sekhukhune (2) and Mopani (2), Limpopo Province.

Job Purpose

The Social Worker (SW) in the Sex Work programme will primarily be responsible for conducting individual assessments, counselling and providing therapeutic interventions for sex workers and the programme team. They will provide support to the sex workers and liaise with the other stakeholders like the South Africa Police Service, Department of Social Development and Department of Health, among others.
