Production Planner

Safair Operations, operating as FlySafair has a vacancy for a Production Planner at our Head Office. The successful applicant will report to the Manager: Maintenance Planning.

Job Description
  • Estimate the maintenance downtime for Maintenance checks;
  • Co-ordinate with Production control in facilitating post-mortem meetings to continuously improve check processes;
  • Collaborate with the Materials Planning team to ensure that all required spares are available ahead of the scheduled check input date;
  • Co-ordinate with Maintenance Planners to ensure the work package is correct and any anomalies are corrected;
  • Co-ordinate with Production control in facilitating Survey pre-check meetings to ensure and align all departments with the upcoming check requirements;
  • Coordinate with Maintenance Planning to develop and manage long-term hangar planning activities;
  • Develop and maintain Gantt plan and production schedules for the aircraft maintenance events and modification projects;
  • Liaise with the maintenance, engineering, procurement, and quality assurance teams to ensure the timely availability of labour, parts, and required documentation;
  • Review work packages and engineering documentation to ensure accuracy, completeness, and compliance with regulatory and company standards, and initiate corrections where necessary;
  • Ensure work orders are compiled on time and provided to MRO;
  • Monitor progress of maintenance check activities within the Heavy maintenance Hangars and adjust schedules as needed to mitigate delays or resource conflicts;
  • Assist maintenance planning to follow-up on all open tasks or work orders;
  • Track parts shortages, assist material planning to initiate procurement activities, and escalate supply chain issues timeously;
  • Collaborate with Production Control to generate production reports and provide regular updates to internal stakeholders;
  • Participate in production meetings and provide status updates on planning milestones;
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives related to production efficiency and planning systems;
  • Co-ordinate Post Mortem meetings with all relevant stake holders after a maintenance event has taken place to discuss improvements and or shortfalls;
  • Maintain knowledge of relevant regulations, policies and guidelines;
  • Adhere to statutory regulations, organisational standards, policies and procedures;
  • Report non-compliance and implement corrective actions to ensure compliance;
  • Analyse stakeholder needs and identify improvement initiatives;
  • Maintain positive relationships with internal and external stakeholders to foster meaningful interactions;
  • Liaise with the Maintenance Planning regarding scheduling and required downtime needed.
Job Requirements
  • Grade 12 or equivalent (Essential).
  • Technical Diploma (Advantageous).
  • Technical trade in aviation (Advantageous).
  • Qualification in Project planning and management (Advantageous).
  • 5 years’ experience in aircraft planning, or production control and aircraft maintenance (Essential).

Job Description
  • Oversee day-to-day training operations across Cabin, Ground, and Technical divisions, ensuring all sessions are scheduled, resourced, and delivered according to the training plan;
  • Monitor training schedules to ensure adherence to timelines, optimal resource allocation, and effective utilisation;
  • Act as the operational escalation point for direct reports, resolving delivery challenges and ensuring continuity;
  • Drive cross-functional standardisation of training processes, documentation, and practices to maintain consistency and quality across all portfolios;
  • Facilitate alignment between training teams, planning, instructors, and administrative support to ensure consistency in training practices, reporting, and adherence to the Regulatory schedule;
  • Foster effective communication across divisions to optimise training execution and collaboration;
  • Identify gaps in training operations, recommend improvements, and implement solutions to enhance effectiveness and efficiency;
  • Gather input from the team on operational challenges and barriers and collaborate with stakeholders to drive process improvements;
  • Document lessons learned, track recurring issues, and recommend practical enhancements to strengthen training delivery and overall efficiency;
  • Compile weekly performance summaries and dashboard inputs, ensuring accurate reporting on training delivery, utilisation, completion rates, and instructor performance;
  • Provide timely and accurate reports on training progress, risks, and key performance metrics, highlighting variances, recommending corrective actions, and escalating critical issues where necessary;
  • Monitor and review instructor utilisation to ensure optimal deployment of training resources, proactively addressing under- or over-utilisation;
  • Support the Manager: Regulatory Training with audit readiness by validating documentation flows from direct reports and ensuring compliance with all regulatory requirements;
  • Encourage, promote, and embody a spirit of teamwork;
  • Assess and optimise the performance of direct reports;

Job Requirements
  • Grade 12 or Equivalent (Essential).

Job Description
  • Support collaboration across departments to craft schedules that optimize cost efficiency, maximize aircraft and crew utilization, and enhance On-Time Performance (OTP);
  • Assist with management of the Schedule, Crew and Aircraft Utilization;
  • Execute additions and changes as instructed;
  • Collaborate with the Yield Department to ensure optimal flight frequency and timing on each route, aligning with demand and maximizing operational efficiency;
  • Long term aircraft planning and management to ensure technical and other operational requirements are considered;
  • Attend Technical Meetings to ensure that we plan accordingly for aircraft availability and configuration changes in order to ensure optimal fleet operations;
  • Coordinate with various departments to address charter and/or additional flight requests;
  • Compile statistics for Exco and other departmental uses as required;
  • Ensure Slot alignment and compliance in accordance with regulation;
  • Ensure acquisition and retention of airport slots. Coordinate with CAMU and air traffic control to secure and manage slots;
  • Calculate Flight and Duty Period during schedule planning to ensure compliance with SACAA regulations;
  • Continuous analysis of schedule performance with the Commercial Department;
  • Identify improvements in network planning to increase efficiencies.
Job Requirements

Job Description

  • Provide guidance to external service providers and internal departments;
  • Manage unresolved queries/issues that has financial impact on the business due to process failure i.e Inadmissible passengers (INAD);
  • Oversee all passenger, ramp, and baggage activities.
Job Requirements
  • Grade 12 or equivalent (Essential).
  • Diploma/Degree in travel and tourism or aviation (Advantageous).
  • Minimum of 10 years aviation experience, of which, 5 years must be management experience (Essential).
  • Experience in the following areas:
    • Baggage handling
    • Passenger Handling
    • Operations and Cargo Handling Non-scheduled Operations.
  • Experience in Commercial Ground Handling agreements.
  • Experience working with IOSA and ISAGO audit requirements.
  • Non-office hours may apply from time to time due to operational requirements.

Job Description
  • Prepare and distribute an Operational Flight Plan for each FlySafair flight;
  • Ensure ATS Flight Plans are filed;
  • Support flight planning through route selection, alternate selection, fuel planning, NOTAMs, weather, MEL/CDL and operational constraints;
  • Active CTOT and ATFM monitoring and coordination;
  • Monitor and respond through OCC Communication channels;
  • Maintain continuous awareness of the status of all aircraft and flights during the shift;
  • Monitor non-normal operations and apply company procedures;
  • Distribute the Operational Daily Flight Movement and revisions;

  • Restricted Radiotelephony License (Advantageous).
