Purpose Statement

• The Manager: Design is responsible for supporting the Head: Brand Design in leading and shaping the creative vision of Capitec’s brand, ensuring all design outputs are strategically aligned, innovative and visually compelling. This role sets the creative standard for design excellence across multiple channels and platforms, fostering a collaborative and high-performance team culture. By driving innovation and ensuring design consistency, this role plays a crucial part in strengthening Capitec’s brand identity and visual storytelling.

Experience

• 10 years of experience in brand, graphic or visual design, with at least 5 years in a leadership or management role 
• Proven experience leading and developing high-performing design teams
• Strong portfolio demonstrating expertise in brand identity, digital design, and visual storytelling
• Experience in an agency or creative studio, with a track record of delivering impactful, multi-channel design solutions

Qualifications (Minimum)

• A relevant tertiary qualification in Design

• A relevant post-graduate qualification in Design

About the roles:

As a Mid/Senior Data Scientist at Capitec, your purpose is to drive Capitec’s AI strategy, with the unique opportunity to shape and own this vision from the ground up. This involves leveraging advanced, practical knowledge of state-of-the-art machine learning principles and techniques, including deep learning, natural language processing (NLP), and reinforcement learning, to develop innovative models and solve complex business challenges. You will be responsible for designing, implementing, and optimising predictive models and intelligent algorithms to uncover actionable insights that drive strategic decision-making across departments.

The role also includes the full machine learning lifecycle, from data preprocessing and experimental design to production-level model deployment. As a Senior Data Scientist, you will gather requirements and manage stakeholder engagement across the business, including executive-level management. Additionally, you will bring expertise in deep learning frameworks such as TensorFlow and PyTorch, while mentoring junior data scientists to foster a collaborative and growth-oriented team environment.

We are looking for mid/senior data scientist, ideally located in the western cape, with roles also open in Sandton. Our current requirements span business banking client experience delivery, retail banking client experience delivery, marketing client insights and engagement, retail credit management, and risk.

Our ideal candidate has:

• 6+ years of experience in a Senior Data Science role
• Bachelor’s degree or higher.

• Python/R experience and relation/non-relational databases.
• Familiarity with modern deep learning frameworks (Pytorch, Tensorflow)
• Stakeholder engagement management up to executive management.
• Github experience or Git
• AWS/Azure/GCP

About the role:

As a Data Scientist I at Capitec, your purpose is to drive Capitec’s AI strategy, ensuring the bank remains competitive in a dynamic landscape where data science is a key strategic differentiator. The role involves leveraging solid, textbook knowledge of state-of-the-art data science principles and techniques in disciplines such deep learning and the underlying theory and assumptions of various techniques. This role sit within Capitec’s Business Banking divsion and will serve in the area of AI and ML.

Key responsibilities include designing and implementing predictive models and intelligent algorithms to gain deeper insights into business performance drivers, enabling more effective decision-making. Additionally, the role encompasses solution and experimental design for model development, as well as the deployment of predictive modeling techniques, utilizing source control systems like Git or Bitbucket to ensure robust and scalable solutions.

Our ideal candidate has:

• 1-3+ years of experience in any Data Science role
• Degree or higher in any of the following field statistics, mathematics, computer science, physics  
• Python experience
• Familiarity with modern deep learning frameworks (Pytorch, Tensorflow)
• Github experience or Git

Ideal:

• AWS
• Basic knowledge of SQL

Purpose Statement

The Business Intelligence Analyst plays a pivotal role in building value for the product line by solving client and business challenges through data. By leveraging advanced analytical skills and experience, the BIA delivers actionable insights that empower senior decision-makers to make faster, better-informed decisions. This role is instrumental in translating complex data into strategic opportunities, driving performance, and enhancing operational effectiveness across the business.

Education (Minimum)

• A relevant tertiary qualification in Business Administration or Statistics

Knowledge and Experience

Minimum

Experience:

• At least 3-5  years’ experience as Business Intelligence Analyst or equivalent (data analyst etc.) including experience in data analytics, BI methods and tools, data warehousing and the data life cycle.
• Experience in identifying, quantifying, and subsequently delivering value on how to solve business challenges using data 
• Experience with stakeholder engagement 
• Experience in working with data on cloud platforms, such as AWS or Microsoft Azure 
• Experience in building data visualisations using tools such as Power BI 
• Experience of using SQL to prepare and analyse data

Knowledge:

• Knowledge and basic experience in using low/no code AutoML on modelling tools such as Power BI or AWS Sagemaker  
• Design thinking
• Dimensional Modelling
• The Data Product Life Cycle (DPLC)
• Knowledge of data privacy and security regulations and best practices 
• Knowledge and understanding of data quality and incident management  
• Knowledge and experience of agile project management methodology 

Ideal:

• Previous experience working in business analysis in the banking sector
