Practitioner: HCM Payroll

Responsibilities

  • Maintain, monitor, and review information on the payroll system to ensure all information is accurate and up to date.
  • Run reports from the payroll systems and compare data after payroll processing for accuracy of information on the system.
  • Ensure all payroll input has been signed off by the relevant parties.
  • Review of payroll calculations as per tax legislation and company policies.
  • Record keeping of all supporting documents.
  • Ensure employees are linked to the correct primary position.
  • Liaise with line management to ensure employee information and salaries are completed timeously and accurately.
  • Close payroll off on time with 100% correct data and assist with payroll variances.
  • Effective communication to all stakeholders regarding any changes or updates regarding payroll.
  • Assist with Annual and bi-annual tax submission on SARS easyfile.
  • Assist with monthly EMP201 submissions on efiling.
  • Oversee the day-to-day operations of the payroll officer/clerk by ensuring all payroll transactions are processed efficiently and accurately.
  • Process all payroll input for earnings, deductions, company contributions, fringe benefits exactly as per instruction document as and when required monthly.
  • Uploading of bulk batches and reconciling input processed.
  • Run payroll checks and balance the payroll before manger runs the variance report.
  • Ensure that payroll deadlines as per remuneration schedule are met on a monthly basis.
  • Coordinate, the extrapolation, controlling and distribution of variance reports and other reports required by line management.
  • Import and generate overtime worked and other allowances as per payroll instructions submitted.
  • Link new employees to ess and correct leave setup as per payroll instructions.
  • Compiling summaries of earnings, taxes, deductions, leave, disability, and non-taxable wages and compile a reporting.
  • Work closely with benefits unit to ensure monthly changes are done correctly and each change is accompanied with instruction document.
  • Process employee transfers, promotions within the organisation and transfer of leave setup and hierarchy setup to new entity.
  • Process and reconcile all miscellaneous input for deductions for external stakeholders such as garnishees, insurances and other stakeholders in accordance with policies and procedures including statutory requirements.
  • Completion of quarterly statistics.
  • Prepare and maintain payroll record and reports for audit purposes and requirements.
  • Give input on the review of payroll policies and procedures.
  • Assist with regular updates of the payroll sops.
  • Assist with the implementation of corrective measures to address audit findings.
  • Ensure payroll tickets/queries are being attended to by officers within the sal.
  • Compliance with employee, tax and labour regulations. Stay up to date with any labour or legislative change.
  • Take part in training initiatives including subordinates.
  • Ensure contracting, bi-annual reviews process is completed and signed off.
  • Provide continuous guidance and support to subordinates.
  • Engage employees on matters relating to payroll and benefit through awareness sessions.
  • Drive regular employee information updates.
  • Resolving payroll discrepancies and queries.
  • Assist with streamlining of payroll processes.

Responsibilities

  • Routine maintenance of tourist buildings, terrain, staff accommodation, ablution blocks, administration and other infrastructures services e.g. electricity, boreholes pumps, sewer systems, buildings and equipment, as well as assisting with inspection of maintenance contractors’ work.

Conservation Practitioner: Learning and Development

Applications are invited from suitably qualified individuals for the position of a Conservation Practitioner: Learning and Development based in Skukuza, Kruger National Park, reporting to the Manager: Learning and Development: KNP.

It should be further noted that the successful incumbent will be expected to stay outside the park since the position is not park based.

Purpose of the Job:

To design, implement, and monitor conservation skills development programs that enhance the capacity of SANParks employees and community stakeholders in biodiversity conservation, ecological management, and sustainable resource use. The role ensures alignment with SANParks’ strategic objectives for conservation and human capital development.

Requirements

  • Conduct and assess the following firearm qualifications:
    • PTFC Accredited firearm proficiency training and shooting (theory and practical).
    • PTFC Accredited handgun, shotgun, rifle and self-loading rifle.
    • PTFC accredited regulation 79 theory and practical.
  • Develop, coordinate, conduct and assess SANParks in-house firearm shoots
    • Guides – Advanced, Intermediate and basic.
    • Game guards and field rangers SANParks shoot (to be developed).
  • Develop KNP conservation training modules for staff that covers the important conservation policies and management plans.

Minimum Requirements

  •  Qualification: Matric
    • NQF Level 7 and above in conservation related qualifications.
    • PTFC Accredited firearm proficiency qualification.
    • Range Officer registered with PFTC.
    • Firearm training instructor and assessor.
    • EMI 2 qualified.
    • Viewing Potentially Dangerous Animals (VPDA) certificate.
  • Assessor for: NQF 2 – guiding qualification and VPDA (View potentially dangerous animals for guides, game guards and field rangers.
  • Experience: 3–5 years in conservation training, skills development, or capacity-building programs.
    • Familiar and have the required certificates for working with handguns, shotguns, rifles and self-loading rifles, operating them in a big five Park.
    • Minimum of 3 years’ experience conducting firearm shoot qualifications on a range as a range officer.
    • Minimum of 3 years’ experience as a walking guide in dangerous game areas.
    • Basic fault identification in malfunctioning firearms.
    • Experience in developing and drafting conservation training modules, and standards for handgun and shotgun.
  • Other: Valid driver’s license (Code B), willingness to travel and work flexible hours.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement conservation knowledge and skills development strategies and training plans.
  • Facilitate technical training in areas such as EMI, firearm, and ranger training.
  • Coordinate learnerships, internships, and workplace-based training programs in conservation disciplines.
  • Monitor and evaluate training impact and report on skills development outcomes.
  • Collaborate with internal departments, SETAs, and external partners to secure funding and accreditation for programs.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant legislation (Skills Development Act, NQF, etc.) and SANParks policies.
  • Maintain accurate records of training interventions and learner progress.
  • Promote transformation and employment equity through targeted skills development initiatives.
  • To identify the need and develop new firearm training shoots and qualification in departments where this may be lacking.
  • To keep up to date with new policies, procedures, regulations and regulation bodies regarding firearms, proficiencies and qualifications.

Regional Finance Manager

A vacancy currently exists for a Regional Finance Manager at Addo Elephant National Park. The successful candidate will have to be a highly motivated individual with the necessary skills and experience to take immediate control of all Finance related matters in the Frontier Region, particularly the Addo Elephant National Park. Independent Contractor – Organisational Development (OD)

SANParks requires the services of an Independent Contractor – Organisational Development (OD) for a 24-month independent contract. The successful individual may be based anywhere in South Africa but must be available to travel to Pretoria (PTA) when required. Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer, the incumbent will lead the review and redesign of the organisation’s operating model and organisational structure to enhance strategic alignment, governance, and service delivery effectiveness.

The assignment includes developing a fit-for-purpose organisational operating model, refining the macro structure, and redesigning microstructures within key functional areas specifically the Chief Operating Officer (COO), Corporate Services, and Human Capital Management (HCM) functions.

In addition, the Specialist will lead the comprehensive review of the HCM function, including its strategy, structure, processes, and systems, to ensure it effectively enables organisational performance, talent management, and workforce capability.

Regional General Manager: Northern

A vacancy currently exists for a dynamic, team-oriented and highly motivated Regional General Manager: Northern. The successful candidate will be closely involved with the implementation and maintenance of sound administration and corporate governance systems, policies and procedures within the different operational units of the Northern Region. The position will be based in Groenkloof, Head Office.

Requirements

  • NQF Level 8 qualification in Conservation/Tourism Management, or any other related qualification.
  • An NQF level 9 in related discipline or MBA will serve as an added advantage.
  • Must have 7-10 years ‘experience on senior management level.
  • Ensure compliance with environmental legislation, protected area regulations, and SANParks conservation policies.
  • Working knowledge of relevant conservation legislation
  • Computer literacy with a working knowledge of Microsoft packages
  • Sound knowledge of statutory governing National Parks incl. NEMA: PAA, MPA, PFMA, etc.
  • Good written and verbal communication, negotiation, project management, conflict resolution and community liaison skills
  • Sound knowledge in implementing sound governance and financial management.
  • Willingness to work long and irregular hours as well as extensive travelling.

Responsibilities

  • To coordinate and manage the Human Capital and Financial Management functions for the Northern Region.
  • To manage, monitor and report on the Northern Region’s divisional Scorecard and Business Plan.
  • To provide effective strategic management and leadership for the region.
  • To ensure implementation and monitoring of the regional business plan.
  • To ensure effective planning and management of Tourism operations for the region.
  • To ensure effective conservation management for the region.
  • To ensure effective constituency building with neighbouring communities and other Stakeholders for the region.
  • To implement sound governance and financial management for the region.
  • To lead, develop and manage the Human Capital of the region.
  • Provide strategic direction and leadership for all parks within the region, aligned with SANParks’ corporate strategy and conservation objectives.

Environmental Compliance Officer: Regional Integration & Planning Department

The position requires specialist knowledge and experience of environmental management systems, environmental legislation, biodiversity mainstreaming, evaluation of land use applications such as zoning and Environmental Impact Assessment projects. Strategic land use planning, incident investigation, compliance monitoring and risk assessment and management.

Requirements

  • Degree in Environmental Management, Environmental Science, Sustainable Development or Planning (NQF Level 7).
  • A Post Graduate degree will be an added advantage (NQF Level 8).
  • Registration as an Environmental Assessment Practitioner with the Environmental Assessment Practitioners Association of South Africa (EAPASA).
  • Minimum four (4) years’ experience in the Environmental Management Field, with specific experience in environmental impact assessments and reporting, environmental compliance/control auditing, EIAs linked to development and water & waste management. Working within a Protected Area environment will be an added advantage.
  • Experience with municipal planning processes will be an added advantage.
  • Valid Code 08 (B) driver’s license.

 RECOMMENDED KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Broad knowledge of impacts associated with a range of development types in different sectors.
  • Experience with developing and monitoring against an Environmental Management Systems will be an added advantage.

KEY ATTRIBUTES:

  • A genuine interest in and understanding of environmental issues, relevant legislation, and international best practice within a Protected Area.

Responsibilities

  • Assess and evaluate proposed developments, EIA applications and activities within the buffer areas of Kruger National Park.
  • Conduct and report on compliance monitoring with environmental legislation including NEMA, NEMBA, NEMPAA, NWA.
  • Assist with the implementation of the Environmental Management System for Kruger National Park.
  • Support Environmental Impact Assessment processes to ensure adherence to all environmental related legislation and standards.
  • Conduct environmental auditing of development and operational activities within areas that are part of the Great Limpopo Transfrontier Conservation Areas (GLTFCA) Cooperative Agreement.
  • Assessing strategic planning instruments such as municipal integrated development plans, spatial development frameworks.
  • Stakeholder management and advising and liaising with internal/external departments, partners, and regulatory bodies.
  • Assessing, analysing, collating, and communicating environmental performance data and reporting information to internal staff, clients and regulatory bodies.
  • Ensure that all Environmental reporting is aligned with standards, guidelines and schedules.
  • Investigate environmental incidents and EMS inefficiencies and make recommendations to the General Manager: Regional Integration and Planning.
  • Communicate awareness about environmental legislation requirements and procedures.
  • Support the development and review of management plans.
  • Assist with internal and external reporting requirements.
  • Assist with the implementation of the GLTFCA Cooperative Agreement.
  • Perform administration and finance management.
