Job purpose: The Senior Legal Advisor provides expert legal guidance and strategic support
to TAU Mining Consultants by managing complex commercial, corporate, and cross-border legal
matters. The role exists to safeguard the company’s legal and regulatory interests across
multiple jurisdictions, ensure contractual and operational compliance, and mitigate legal risks
associated with domestic and international business activities.
Reporting to the Head of Legal, the Senior Legal Advisor leads the drafting, analysis, and
negotiation of a broad range of contracts and legal documents, supports internal stakeholders
through informed legal opinions, and ensures alignment between legal requirements and
business objectives. The role further contributes to the development of internal policies,
oversees adherence to regulatory frameworks—including POPIA, GDPR, and foreign trade and
currency regulations—and facilitates effective engagement with external counsel, regulators,
and international counterparties.
Through robust legal insight and cross-functional collaboration, the Senior Legal Advisor
enables sound decision-making, supports strategic initiatives, and enhances legal governance
across the organisation’s operations in South Africa and abroad.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct contract analysis and provide legal opinions on contractual obligations and risks.
- Draft and review legal documents, negotiate a wide range of contracts and agreements.
- Draft and review business correspondence, including formal letters, notices, and responses
to counterparties. - Lead and participate in negotiations with counterparties, external counsel and regulators;
coordinate positions with internal stakeholders. - Collaborate with external consultants and advisors to support legal and business
objectives. - Assist in compliance checks and audits, providing legal support and documentation as
needed. - Develop, review, and analyze internal policies and procedures, ensuring they comply with
legal standards and support business objectives. - Maintain and update registries of contracts and other legal documents, as well as other
required registries. - Support internal teams with legal risk assessments and strategic decision-making.
- Ensure compliance with applicable laws and regulations across multiple jurisdictions,
including POPIA (SA), GDPR, and other relevant regulations. - Provide legal support for matters of international private law and cross-border transactions,
including structuring and reviewing international deals. - Advise on foreign trade activities and currency regulation, ensuring compliance with
relevant legislation.
Minimum Job Requirements
- LLB degree or equivalent legal qualification, officially recognized in South Africa.
- 7+ years PQE in commercial/contract and corporate law.
- Demonstrated experience in international private law, foreign trade and currency regulation.
- Professional proficiency in Russian and English, including legal drafting and negotiation.
- Exposure to international jurisdictions such as the UAE, European Union, and
Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS). - Strong experience in drafting legal documents, business correspondence, and contractual
notices. - Ability to work independently and manage multiple high-stakes matters.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
Preferred Experience
- Extensive background in contract drafting, review, and negotiation across multiple
jurisdictions. - Familiarity with legal systems and business practices in UAE, European Union, and CIS
countries. - Exposure to cross-functional collaboration with finance, operations, and external legal
teams.

Chief Maintenance Officer

Job purpose: The Chief Maintenance Officer is responsible for overseeing and standardizing
maintenance operations across multiple mining sites, ensuring the reliability and efficiency of
heavy equipment machinery. This role focuses on maximizing equipment uptime, driving
operational excellence, promoting safety, and aligning maintenance strategies with the
organization’s goals for long-term sustainability and productivity
Key Responsibilities:
- Strategic Maintenance Leadership
- Develop and implement standardized maintenance and asset management strategies
across all sites to ensure consistency and efficiency. - Create long-term plans for equipment replacement, upgrades, and maintenance schedules,
aligning with organizational goals.
- Asset Management Leadership
- Design and regularly update the organisation’s asset management strategy to align with
business goals, industry standards (such as ISO 55000), and regulatory requirements. - Ensure the strategy covers the full lifecycle of all physical assets, from acquisition and
commissioning through operation, maintenance, and eventual decommissioning or
disposal. - Collaborate with other departments (finance, operations etc.) to ensure asset management
plans support overall organizational objectives and production targets.
- Equipment Reliability & Performance Optimization
- Monitor equipment performance across all sites and implement measures to maximize
reliability and reduce downtime. - Oversee the implementation of predictive and preventive maintenance programs for heavy
machinery.
- Operational Oversight
- Ensure smooth coordination between maintenance teams and mining operations to
achieve production targets without delays. - Conduct regular site visits to assess operational efficiency and identify areas for
improvement.
- Data-Driven Decision Making
- Analyse maintenance data and generate reports to identify trends, predict equipment
failures, and improve efficiency. - Utilize maintenance management software to monitor KPIs and streamline operations.
- Innovation & Continuous Improvement
- Stay updated on industry trends and incorporate emerging technologies to improve
maintenance practices. - Foster innovation by implementing best practices and continuous improvement initiatives
across all sites.
- Risk & Crisis Management
- Develop contingency plans to handle equipment breakdowns or emergencies, ensuring
minimal impact on operations. - Proactively address risks associated with equipment reliability and operational challenges.
- Financial Management
- Develop and oversee maintenance budgets.
- Identify cost-saving opportunities and control expenditures.
- Monitor and control financial risks.
- Human Resource Management
- Lead, train, and mentor maintenance teams.
- Manage individual and team performance.
Minimum Job Requirements
- National Senior Certificate or equivalent
- Government Certificate of Competency: Mines and Works
- Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, or related field.
- At least 10–12 years’ experience in heavy earthmoving equipment maintenance and
support, with 5–7 years in a senior management role within mining or heavy industry,
overseeing multi-site operations. - Experience in a fast-paced, dynamic business environment.
- This position requires occasional travel to various company sites and operational locations.
A valid driver’s license and willingness to travel as needed are essential. - Clean criminal record.

ensure compliance with safety, quality, and governance standards. The role drives continuous
improvement through data-driven decision-making, optimizes maintenance processes across
multiple sites, and fosters collaboration between maintenance, engineering, and operations
teams to achieve organizational performance and cost-efficiency objectives.
Key Responsibilities:
- Maintenance Strategy and Optimization
- Develop, implement, and continuously improve preventive and predictive maintenance
strategies for all critical machinery and equipment. - Align maintenance strategies with organisational goals and industry best practices to
maximize equipment uptime and reliability. - Support the Chief Maintenance Officer in standardizing maintenance operations across all
sites, ensuring consistency and efficiency.
- Equipment Reliability and Performance
- Monitor equipment performance, analyse failure data, and identify trends to proactively
address reliability issues. - Lead root cause analysis (RCA) for recurring equipment failures and implement corrective
actions to prevent reoccurrence. - Provide expert advice on optimizing maintenance processes and reducing unplanned
downtime.
- Data Analysis and Reporting
- Collect, analyse, and interpret operational and engineering data to identify risks, trends,
and improvement opportunities. - Prepare detailed reports and dashboards on key reliability metrics (e.g., MTBF, MTTR,
OEE) to support strategic and operational decision-making. - Utilize the Enterprise Asset Management System (EAMS) for data-driven decision-making
and performance tracking.
- Continuous Improvement and Innovation
- Stay updated on industry trends and emerging technologies to enhance maintenance
practices. - Drive continuous improvement initiatives to increase asset reliability, efficiency, and costeffectiveness.
- Collaborate with the Asset Manager to implement best practices and support lifecycle
management of assets.
- Maintenance Planning and Collaboration
- Work closely with the Asset Manager to ensure maintenance plans are aligned with asset
management strategies and operational requirements. - Support the development and maintenance of preventive and predictive maintenance plans
for critical assets. - Facilitate collaboration between maintenance, engineering, and operations teams to
optimize asset performance.
- Training and Support
- Provide technical guidance and training to maintenance teams on reliability principles,
maintenance best practices, and the use of maintenance management systems. - Develop user guides, SOPs, and training materials to support system adoption and
compliance.
- Tender Participation
- Support the Chief Maintenance Officer in tender participation by providing technical input
and reliability data for tender documents. - Assist in evaluating and negotiating with vendors and suppliers during the tendering
process, ensuring proposals meet reliability and maintenance standards. - Ensure tender submissions include comprehensive maintenance strategies and reliability
requirements, contributing to successful contract awards.
- Financial Management
- Contribute to the development and management of maintenance budgets, ensuring costeffective operations.
- Identify and implement opportunities to reduce expenses, such as optimizing spare parts
inventory and minimizing energy consumption. - Monitor and control costs against the budget, and support cost-saving and cash

About the Role
We are seeking an experienced and highly professional Senior Accountant to join our Finance
team. The ideal candidate will be a qualified Chartered Accountant (CA(SA)) with an Honours
degree in Accounting Sciences, and strong experience in managing financials across multiple
entities, including offshore companies.
The role requires exceptional technical accounting ability, strong analytical skills, and the
capacity to work accurately under pressure within a dynamic environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Maintain and manage the full financial function for multiple companies (local and offshore).
- Prepare monthly management accounts, financial statements, and reports in line with
statutory requirements. - Ensure compliance with IFRS, tax legislation, and international reporting standards.
- Manage balance sheet reconciliations, general ledger accuracy, and financial controls.
