Finance Head

Job Description

To provide strategic leadership, governance and oversight of the cost base across all FirstRand brands operating in Broader Africa. The role ensures transparent, consistent and value-driven cost management through effective transfer pricing, service level agreements, headcount and centre cost management, budgeting, forecasting and advanced cost allocation models.

Key Accountabilities

  • Own and lead the cost management strategy for Broader Africa, aligned to Group Finance frameworks and governance standards.
  • Provide executive oversight of centre cost bases, headcount, establishment control and productivity metrics across African operations.
  • Design, implement and manage intercompany transfer pricing models in line with Group policy and regulatory requirements.
  • Own and govern Service Level Agreements (SLAs) between countries, shared services and platforms, ensuring transparent cost recovery.
  • Develop, run and continuously enhance HPCM costing models across all African entities to enable accurate cost allocation and profitability insight.
  • Lead annual budgeting, quarterly forecasting and long-range planning processes for cost across Broader Africa.
  • Deliver high-quality cost reporting, variance analysis and insights to senior management, forums and governance committees.
  • Act as a strategic finance business partner to regional CFOs, Finance Heads and Executive Committees.
  • Identify and drive cost optimisation and efficiency initiatives while supporting sustainable growth strategies.

People Management

  • Lead and develop a high-performing cost management team across Broader Africa.
  • The role is accountable for talent development, performance management, succession planning and embedding a strong culture of accountability, continuous improvement and collaboration in line with FirstRand values.

Governance, Risk and Compliance

  • Ensure strong financial governance, controls and risk management over cost management processes.
  • Maintain compliance with Group Finance policies, regulatory requirements and audit standards across all African entities.

Qualifications and Experience

  • A minimum of 8–10 years senior finance experience with at least 3–5 years in a leadership or Head-of role.
  • Extensive experience in cost management, transfer pricing, cost allocation and shared services environments.
  • Proven experience working in a multi-country or pan-African operating model.
  • Sound understanding of financial services or banking environments.

Key Responsibilities

  • Implement and oversee the Group’s compliance frameworks and programmes in consultation with business units.

  • Support business with privacy-related risk assessments including Legitimate Interest Assessments (LIA), Compatibility Assessments (CA), Privacy Impact Assessments (PIA).
  • Issue management – identity self-disclosed issues and active management of issues (root cause, impact, owner and implementation timelines). Drive timely closure of issues.
  • Compile clear, accurate, appropriate and regular reporting

Experience & Qualifications

  • LLB or BCom Law is a compulsory qualification.
  • 4 to 5 years of experience in Risk Management or Compliance, preferably within the financial services sector.
  • CPrac designation is advantageous.
  • In-depth knowledge of the National Credit Act (NCA) and related credit legislation to ensure full compliance across credit products and processes. Strong knowledge of case law, regulatory guidance, and industry best practice underpins the ability to provide authoritative advice and maintain the organization’s standing as a responsible credit provider.
  • Ability to interpret complex legislation and translate it into actionable compliance frameworks.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to identify compliance risks and effective controls to be implemented.
  • Deep understanding of privacy legislation (POPIA, GDPR, etc.) and practical experience in privacy risk management.
  • Excellent stakeholder management and communication and influencing skills to collaborate and align across legal, compliance, operational risk and business areas.
  • Ability to work independently, manage competing priorities, and thrive in a high-volume, high-impact environment.

Fraud Investigator

Job Description

To investigate criminal, ethical, tip-off, and fraudulent incidents by examining relevant records and documentation, conducting interviews with internal and external stakeholders, and reporting findings to management. The role prioritises cases based on the likelihood of achieving meaningful outcomes and manages a range of criminal investigations from minor infringements to complex fraud cases in collaboration with law enforcement agencies.

  • Ensure optimal utilisation of Fraud tools including timeous Case Management loading systems (BAB, Care, SECM/IC Fraud)
  • Daily loading of cases, scanning of orders, maintenance of registers (cases, exhibits, orders etc)
  • Execute investigation activities in line with applicable standards and laws to maximize recoveries for the Bank
  • Measured by the achievement of the target achieved for the area under control
  • Deliver exceptional service that exceeds customers’ expectations through proactive, innovative and appropriate solutions
  • Actively participate in key internal forums and share information and insights with colleagues across the Bank

Job Description

We are seeking a skilled Fraud Analyst to join our team on a 6-month contract.
The role involves executing fraud risk management processes to help the business identify and analyze risk incidents that could threaten assets, earnings, and overall success.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Implement and monitor fraud risk frameworks, policies, and contingency plans.
  • Analyze fraud data and conduct root cause investigations to recommend prevention measures.
  • Collaborate with law enforcement, industry experts, and internal stakeholders.
  • Share insights and lessons learned through reports, presentations, and forums.
  • Maintain compliance with laws, regulations, and industry best practices.
  • Compile accurate fraud analytics reports and update relevant systems.

Requirements:

  • Proven experience in fraud analysis or risk management.
  • Strong analytical, investigative, and stakeholder engagement skills.
  • Knowledge of fraud prevention methodologies, legislation, and industry trends.
