Operator – Drive Thru Yard Department

Job Description

Purpose: The purpose of this job is to deliver exceptional customer service in such a manner that external & internal customers are satisfied; including all customers, delivery and transfer drivers.  This is accomplished by friendly service and accurate loading of all customers’ products purchased ensuring that the Yard runs efficiently by loading with the Forklift or Front-End Loader so that no losses of neither stock nor dissatisfied customers occur in order to have customers return to the store increasing sales and profit margins

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Loading customer vehicles, delivery trucks and transfer trucks promptly
  • Ensuring that stock is properly stacked and counted
  • Up keeping of tidiness and cleaning of area by sweeping and ensuring good housekeeping
  • Assisting customers with excellent customer service and knowledge of goods
  • Maintaining the operational vehicles in good condition
  • Ensure operational procedures for operators are followed
  • Reporting any problems and maintaining the record book
  • Participate in perpetual stock takes
  • Ensure housekeeping of work area
  • Perform any work related tasks as delegated by superior

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Matric or 3x Completed Intercept courses equating to total of 120 credits.
  • Candidates with no matric but have an operator licence and have 1 year experience will be considered
  • 1 year experience as an operator
  • Valid Operator Licence
  • Brights Induction (Service Excellence)
  • Ability to deliver excellent customer service
  • Ability to numerically count stock
  • Able to work independently and as a team player
  • Ability to communicate effectively (verbal)
  • Ability to give excellent customer service and handle pressure
  • Ability to operate machines safely and competently

Yard Supervisor – (Drive Thru Yard Dpt.)

Job Description

Department:                   Building

Reporting to:                   Divisional Manager

Purpose:                          The purpose of this job is to ensure the smooth running of the department, through weekly evaluations and reporting it to the Manager of the department. This should ensure that sales targets are met and that housekeeping standards are maintained, in addition providing excellent customer service ensuring customer satisfaction. This will include overseeing all staff and the productivity of the department resulting in promoting the business, therefore creating sustainable growth and profit.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Ensure company rules and regulations and provide training as well as guidance thereon, i.e., supplier customer etiquette.
  • Ensure smooth running of the department by delivering excellent customer service
  • Make sure that standard operating procedures in the department are adhered to under pressure, i.e., handling customer complaints
  • Assign staff to specific areas and duties, relieve the Supervisor/ Manager when required
  • Conduct regular inspections concerning the department’s housekeeping, aisles, merchandising, and staff uniforms.
  • Conduct all OHS floor walks with the OHS rep and ensure that the Yard and building departments are OHS compliant.
  • Complete all Job cards for all maintenance and oversee the completion of the repair in the building department
  • Monitor returns of faulty/damaged stock and breakages, keep CFC book up date by monitoring reversals, following up on repairs and quotations.
  • Report to superiors regularly and keep them informed of how to improve your department and incidents of concern.
  • Monitor and assist with all fleet maintenance, repairs, and booking services by obtaining quotes for the manager to submit for approval.
  • Monitoring of Vehicle Checklist and ensuring renewal of PDP & forklift license is scheduled
  • Monitor staff movement and do a security search of all male staff at the end of the shift
  • Planning and preparing work schedules, daily registers, and time and attendance of staff, including leave queries, managing overtime.
  • Submission of weekly and monthly reports to the superior, dormant stock, negative report, and outstanding special orders.
  • Carry out all instructions from your superiors and follow all store procedures
  • Train all new and old staff members (product knowledge and procedures)
  • Allocate and monitor floor areas for various functions (i.e. incoming stock, transfers, checking area and returns.
  • Ensure health & safety compliance in area, specifically related to ensuring the safety of customers, suppliers, and staff
  • Ensure the availability and working condition of all equipment for the department, i.e. trolleys
  • Implementing the company return policy, i.e. returned stock should be allocated to an area with the CFC note attached.
  • Ensure tasks are delegated, pressure is applied to subordinates for meeting deadlines in a motivating manner by setting weekly targets, i.e., improving the flow of goods being received from suppliers, checking invoices, loading trucks, and packing the area)
  • Nominate employee of the month and forward to management on the 1st of each month.
  • Prepare a mini swot for the manager by the 5th of every month
  • Participate in perpetual stock takes.
  • Perform any work-related task as delegated by a superior.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Matric or equivalent
  • 2 Years’ experience in similar role.
  • 3 Years’ experience in retail hardware environment.
  • Must have previous experience in maintenance & operations
  • Brights Induction (Service Excellence)
  • Customer service training
  • Internal stock system knowledge
  • Microsoft Office (Internet, E-mails, Word & Excel)
  • Ability to act professionally and maintain confidentiality
  • Displays Standard Operating Procedure unattended
  • Ability to communicate effectively (verbal & written)
  • Planning, time management, problem solving & organizing skills

Sales Assistant – Building Department

Job Description

Purpose:                      To assist customers by helping them choose a product that is best suitable for whatever need the customer has, in such a manner that the assistance of the Sales Assistant is appreciated by the customer when he/she purchases any product. This will include the ability to provide good customer service in such a manner that customer satisfaction is achieved, resulting in generating sales and promoting the business therefore creating sustainable growth in margins and profits.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Attend to customers in a professional and helpful manner
  • Generate more sales, ensure customer satisfaction by providing excellent customer service
  • Control stock levels and doing regular stock counts
  • Advise customers with regards to products, which product would be best in order to solve the customers’ problem
  • Place stock orders with buyers if necessary
  • Attend to relevant admin tasks including up keep of customer book, special orders file and forwarding of invoices as well as other relevant tasks
  • Ensure merchandising is done properly and that the products are priced correctly
  • Participate in perpetual stock takes
  • Ensure good housekeeping of work area
  • Perform any work related tasks as delegated by superior

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Matric or x3 Completed Intercept courses equating to total of 120 credits
  • 2 Years minimum experience in a Hardware environment
  • Basic product exposure (must have spent at least 2 years with Building products)
  • Brights Induction (Service excellence)
  • In-house entry level merchandising standards
  • In house basic sales technique
  • 2 x Department Product Knowledge Certificate
  • Natural Sales flair
  • Ability to communicate effectively (verbal & written)
