Job Advert Summary
Responsible for the execution of the Departmental strategy and the Organisation’s financial transactions by producing accounting reports and reconciling general ledger accounts ensuring the integrity of the Rand Water Group trail balance through business partnering. Develop and manage the implementation of processes and internal controls that mitigate inherent and residual risk. Manage and advocates for compliance with the requirements of the adopted accounting standards and other regulatory, statutory and legislative frameworks and provides inputs to the financial statements.

Minimum Requirements
Honours degree in accounting or an equivalent qualification in Finance (NQF 8).
SAICA or SAIPA articles
Minimum of 4-6 years in a financial accounting environment, all aspects relating to financial processing, systems, compliance & reporting.
SAP experience will be an added advantage
Professional accreditation is an added advantage.


Primary Duties
Engages relevant business units on application and compliance to accounting standards.
Analyse the SAP structure and initiates required changes to the structure.
Keep abreast with approved policies and procedures effective in the organisation and identifies impact to the trial balance
Develop and manage month end closure process
Analyse all group transactions to ensure compliance with accounting practices
Responsible for the management of the Rand Water Group trial balance
Review of financial accounting policies and procedures and align with best practice
Assist in sectional audits and ensure audit readiness
Review transactions within the organization to ensure compliance with the APM, legislative, statutory and regulatory frameworks.
Implement initiatives that promote Business partnering through continuous engagement with relevant end users
Investigate and implement best practices aligned with process improvements within the finance industry
Manage application of Accounting Policy Manual in transactions throughout the Organisation
Prepare and analyse the notes to the group financial statements.
Prepare inputs to the Management Accounts with detailed analysis of variance and movements year on year.
Co-ordination and management of International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) implementation projects for the group including attending & responding to organisational technical queries on the application of IFRS.
Co-ordination and preparation of all assurance audits including responding to audit queries including requests for information and findings.
Ensures that strategic initiatives are implemented according to the approved plan
Review verifications on General ledger accounts to identify misclassifications between general ledger accounts and approves the correction of identifies misapplications of the APM and errors in accounting
Reviews and posts journals according to the approved internal controls and verifies compliance with IFRS as outlined in the APM.

Review and analyse for approval the reconciliation of General Ledger accounts to ensure compliance with the APM & other procedures, internal controls
Identify areas of improvement with all processes to ensure alignment to the consolidated financial Statements required disclosure and presentation throughout all month ends.

Job Advert Summary
Rand Water is looking for a dynamic and technically competent Group Reporting Accountant to join its Finance Division. The ideal candidate will be responsible for delivering timely and accurate consolidated financial statements across the Group and its entities. This role requires strong technical accounting knowledge, compliance with International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS), PFMA, VAT legislation, National Treasury reporting frameworks, and the ability to liaise with internal and external auditors. The successful candidate must have excellent attention to detail, experience with SAP and CaseWare, and bring a collaborative approach to partnering with business units and auditors.

Minimum Requirements

  • A Degree in Accounting or Finance (NQF 7)
  • Completed SAICA or SAIPA articles
  • Professional registration (e.g., CA(SA), PA(SA)) is an advantage
  • Minimum 3–5 years of experience in a Financial Reporting environment
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite – SAP (FI Module) experience; Caseware exposure and experience with National treasury templates is advantageous
  • Solid understanding of PFMA, VAT Act, IFRS, and NT Reporting Framework

Primary Duties
1 . Preparation of separate and consolidated of financial statements

  • Prepare separate and consolidated financial statements in accordance with IFRS, PFMA, and other applicable regulations, including inputs to the Integrated Annual Report.
  • Ensure timely submission of accurate financial reports to stakeholders and regulatory authorities.
  • Implement disclosure enhancements based on JSE Proactive Monitoring and IFRS updates.
