Job Purpose:

Supports the Marketing Manager in activating the brand through integrated programme plans driven by the marketing strategy of Brand South Africa and in line with key stakeholder projects.

Minimum Qualification Requirements & Experience:

• Recognised Bachelor’s degree in Marketing (minimum).

• 3+ years of experience in marketing and communications with brand oriented organisations or organisations in corporate marketing.

Key Performance Areas:

1. Brand activation support.

• Support the Marketing Manager in activating the brand through integrated programme plans driven by the marketing strategy of Brand South Africa and in line with key stakeholder projects.

• Assist in taking specific management and responsibility in areas of brand management for Brand South Africa signature programmes, Brand South Africa platforms and campaigns.

• Assist GM: Marketing in the management of the Play Your Part programme including ambassadors, the activations implemented and campaigns utilised to promote the programme. Assist in monitoring brand performance amongst Play Your Part ambassadors.

• Assist in developing digital strategies and solutions for the brand and all the campaigns to be implemented.

• Ensure that the corporate identity is aligned in all the brands creative elements and activations implemented.

• Provide Branding support on stakeholder led projects to ensure compliance with the organisational identity.

2. Project Management of Select Marketing Projects and Campaigns.

• Management, co-ordination and flighting of relevant TV, Radio, digital, OOH, activations and Print campaigns to flight.

• Assist in the development of Above-the-Line, Below-the-Line and Through-the-Line marketing campaigns.

• Assist with liaising and collaborating with Communications & Digital unit in order to ensure optimal support for marketing campaigns.

• Assist in ensuring the adherence of the Corporate Identity.

• Budget Management and tracking.

• Assist with the brand agency relationship management.

• Assist with the identification of promotional opportunities for the brand.

• Assist in ensuring that the brand is brought to life at all the Brand South Africa engagements.

• Assist with the management of the Play Your Part Programme.

• Assist in the monitoring of Brand Performance.

• Assist in continuously updating the Nation Brand marketing toolkit and the promotion thereof.

• Brand Marketing and promotional activities – ensuring that the identity is aligned and receive updates of the Corporate Identity.

3. Develop and manage marketing collateral.

• Develop collateral and branding for activations and projects to achieve a consistent brand and corporate identity.

• Assist in reviewing collateral and branding materials to ensure quality control measures.

• Oversee the analysis and monitoring of collateral stock on hand.

• Ensure sufficient stock for project activities.

• Ensure that multi-stakeholders are using the corporate identity correct and is aligned internally.

• Provide approval of corporate identity alignment internally.

• Maintain database of stakeholder and Play Your Part Ambassador contacts.

4. Planning And Organising.

• Assist with design and implementation of plans to market the Nation Brand.

• Plan and implement marketing programmes and activations.

• Monitor, update and note the marketing budget from campaigns costed by agencies.

• Ensure that budget spent aligns to the forecast against all the CE’s and PO’s completed.

• Budget management monitoring and tracking – monthly recons.

• Adhere to timeous statutory reporting deadlines.

5. Staff Management and Development.

• Delegate work assignments and tasks to appropriate to the Marketing and Activations Co-ordinator.

• Providing sufficient direction so desired business outcomes can be achieved.

• Provide direct report with leadership, direction, and coaching to achieve work objectives and improve performance and skills.

• Performance Management – ensure that direct report achieves their Performance Objectives as per individual agreements.

• Development, motivation and training of direct report.

Required Technical Skills, Competencies and Attributes:

• Working knowledge of all elements of the marketing and communications function, including market planning and development, customer and stakeholder relations and managing marketing partners.

• Excellent knowledge of marketing research principles.

• Knowledge of the broad political, legislative and economic arenas – locally and internationally, i.e awareness as a global citizen.

• Advanced MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).

• Advanced marketing strategy activation.

• Working ability in collateral management (i.e website marketing).

• Budgeting Skills.

• Good presentation and business communication skills.
