Key accountabilities
Accountability: Management information Production
- Coordinate the monthly collection of environmental sustainability data from internal and external data providers, including energy, fuel, waste, water, paper, renewable energy and other environmental performance indicators.
- Ensure all required environmental datasets are submitted within agreed reporting timelines and proactively follow up on outstanding or incomplete submissions
- Review source data for completeness, consistency, reasonableness and accuracy prior to inclusion in reporting systems and management reports
- Maintain documented validation processes and supporting evidence to ensure data is suitable for internal reporting, external reporting and assurance requirements
- Develop new reports, report formats and standards based on identified user requirements for the business, using multiple technologies
- Analyse derived information to create value add understanding of insights and opportunities presented by the data set
- Prepare customised reports based on identified requirements from the business at large
- Develop regular performance reports particularly related to needs of the business sales force to aid performance measurement and management
- Continuously identify opportunities to automate reports and to eliminate duplicate and manual report production
Accountability: Provide value-add insight
- Develop a thorough understanding of the key business challenges through engagement with all stakeholders in the business
- Identify opportunities through which Analytics can assist in addressing these challenges, present these to relevant stakeholders and implement
- Identify business opportunities in support of the business sales initiatives through analysis of the business management information and management information that may reside outside the business
- Assist stakeholders in developing business cases for new products by providing relevant information to support identified business opportunities. Ensure that the management information input in business cases is credible by ensuring accuracy of the data used
- Propose approaches to the business on monitoring measures or key performance indicators (KPIs) associated with the business case and business model and ensure creditability of data received to support the measures or KPIs
- Analyse trends within the business data to reduce risks, optimise performance of the business and inform People Function decisions.
- Review, test and validate Power BI dashboards and reporting visualisations on a regular basis to ensure that reported figures reconcile to source data and approved reporting outputs
- Verify the accuracy of calculations, measures, KPIs, trends and visual representations displayed on dashboards before reports are presented to management and stakeholders
- Investigate and resolve dashboard data discrepancies in collaboration with reporting teams, system administrators and business stakeholders
Accountability: Governance and control
- Conduct detailed monthly validation and quality assurance reviews on all environmental sustainability data received from internal and external data providers
- Verify completeness, accuracy, consistency and integrity of all environmental datasets, including energy, fuel, water, waste, paper, renewable energy, greenhouse gas emissions and other reporting metrics
- Challenge data submissions where anomalies, gaps, variances or inconsistencies are identified and work with data providers and relevant technology teams to resolve issues prior to reporting
- Perform trend analysis, variance analysis and reasonable checks to identify potential reporting errors and ensure data quality standards are maintained
- Maintain audit trail and supporting documentation for all reported environmental data to support internal audit, external assurance and regulatory reporting requirements
- Ensure all environmental data complies with approved reporting methodologies, calculation approached and governance standards
- Escalate material data quality issues, reporting risks and non-compliance with reporting requirements to management for resolution
- Review and validate all environmental reporting outputs, scorecards, dashboards and management reports before publication or distribution to stakeholders
Accountability: Business partnering
- Build effective working relationships with business stakeholders to develop a detailed understanding of their business imperatives and objectives
- Maintain an interactive process with stakeholders as the analytical solution is being developed – present and receive feedback on work-in-progress
- Perform a consultancy role with business stakeholders. Present the final analytical outputs to stakeholders and assist in interpreting the results and providing advice & recommendations on the implementation of actions
- Educate users where required on the design or how to utilise the solution
- Engage with the business teams on an ongoing basis to understand management information needs and sensitise them to any relevant existing reports or management information outputs that will result in value-add opportunities in their respective areas
- Conduct impact analysis of any proposed changes that will impact on management information reporting
- Actively engage and participate in new initiatives within the business to ensure that the management information component is addressed
- Engage with other key stakeholders within the Group to ensure that the business leverages off what is available and are aware of initiatives in the group that may impact on the business

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
Education:
Bachelor’s Degree in one of the following:
- Information Technology

Work Experience:
- 3-5 years’ experience in data analysis, business intelligence, sustainability reporting, environmental reporting or data governance
- Experience performing detailed data validation, reconciliation and quality assurance activities
- Experience working with large and complex datasets from multiple source systems
- Experience developing, reviewing or maintaining Power BI dashboards and reporting solutions
- Experience supporting audit, assurance or regulatory reporting processes would be advantageous
- Knowledge of environmental sustainability of ESG reporting metrics and methodologies would be advantageous

Job Description
Data Architecture & Data Engineering:
- Take ‘one stop shop’ accountability for the retrieval, storage, processing & distribution of data across a business area (data eco-system)
- Collaborate with data science teams & broader business & technical stakeholders to analyse customer data requirements & leverage analysis to identify & accurately spec / frame & set the appropriate data architecture for the business area
- Take accountability for deeply understanding the technical landscape and bank wide architecture that is connected to or dependent on the business area supported in order to effectively design & deliver data solutions (architecture, pipeline etc.)
- Leverage expertise in analytical & creative problem solving to synthesise data solution designs (build a solution from its components) beyond the analysis of the problem
- Lead design thinking processes to successfully deliver data solution blueprints & associated roadmaps
- Leverage state of the art relational and No-SQL databases as well integration and streaming platforms do deliver sustainable business specific data solutions.
- Lead the end to end solution design & implementation process for all data retrieval, storage & distribution solutions including contributing to and in some cases lead all phases of the development lifecycle including e.g. design process
- Develop high quality data retrieval, storage & distribution design and architecture in a test driven & domain driven / cross domain environment
- Build analytics tools that utilize the data pipeline by quickly producing well-organised, optimized, and documented source code & algorithms to deliver technical data solutions
- Create & Maintain Sophisticated CI / CD Pipelines (authoring & supporting CI/CD pipelines in Jenkins or similar tools and deploy to multisite environments – supporting and managing your applications all the way to production)
- Automate tasks through appropriate tools and scripting technologies e.g. Ansible, Chef
- Debug existing source code and polish feature sets.
- Assemble large, complex data sets that meet business requirements & manage the data pipeline
- Build infrastructure to automate extremely high volumes of data delivery and
- Creatively solve data volume and scaling challenges.
- Create data tools for analytics and data science teams that assist them in building and optimizing data sets for the benefit of the business
- Ensure designs & solutions support the technical organisation principles of self-service, repeatability, testability, scalability & resilience
- Apply general design patterns and paradigms to deliver technical solutions
- Inform & support the infrastructure build required for optimal extraction, transformation, and loading of data from a wide variety of data sources.
- Continuously optimise, improve & automate data retrieval, storage & distribution processes
- Work across the value chain and in particular with QA & CSO to define and implement quality assurance routines & processes
- Work across the value chain and in particular with QA & CSO to ensure the undisputable separation, security & quality of the organisation’s data
- Meaningfully contribute & ensure solutions align to the design & direction of the Group Architecture & in particular data standards,
- principles, preferences & practices. Short term deployment must align to strategic long-term delivery.
- Meaningfully contribute & ensure solutions align to the design and direction of the Group Infrastructure standards and practices e.g. OLA’s, IAAS, PAAS, SAAS, Containerisation etc.
- Strategically & operationally monitor the performance of data products and services ensuring ongoing optimization & cost to value for our businesses (think bank wide)
- Stay ahead of the curve on data retrieval, storage & distribution technologies & processes (global best practices & trends) to ensure best practice
People Management:
- Coach & mentor other engineers
- Conduct peer reviews, testing, problem solving within and across the broader team
- Provide technical subject matter expertise and support in the attraction and recruitment of Product Engineers for the organization
- Participate as a subject matter expert in the development & development planning of the broader data engineering team
- Support the people change teams in the design of adoption processes (Customer, Employee & 3rd Party Adoption)
Risk & Governance:
- Identify technical risks and mitigate these (pre, during & post deployment)
- Update / Design all application documentation aligned to the organization technical standards and risk / governance frameworks
- Create business cases & solution specifications for various governance processes (e.g. CTO approvals)
- Participate in incident management & DR activity – applying critical thinking, problem solving & technical expertise to get to the bottom of major incidents
- Deliver on time & on budget (always)
- Ensure that all activities and duties are carried out in full compliance with regulatory requirements, Enterprise Wide Risk Management
- Framework and Absa Policies and Policy Standards.

Job SummaryThis position requires an understanding of system configuration and foundational experience working on cloud-based platforms. The incumbent will work alongside a Strategic Lead and Specialist Configurators to ensure the optimal operation, maintenance, and enhancement of the overall platform. The role includes complex testing, business process design, process implementation, analysis, reporting, system support, and ongoing maintenance aligned to best practice recommendations. Exposure to Human Capital technology platforms such as Workday, SAP, Sage, and other HR-related systems will be highly advantageous. Knowledge of HR processes, system integrations, and cloud-based application support is desirable. Experience with Workday and HR technology ecosystems is relevant to the role.
Job Description
- Support Tier 1 case management and customer support teams with technical queries.
- Coordinate with team members to analyse and troubleshoot complex system issues, supporting configuration and implementation changes to the application and participating in testing and validation activities.

Experience:
- Minimum 2 years’ experience supporting, configuring, testing, and maintaining cloud-based applications or enterprise platforms.
- Experience working with Workday, SAP, Sage, or other Human Capital Management (HCM) / HR Information Systems (HRIS).
- Experience in system configuration, business process analysis, testing, reporting, and troubleshooting.
- Exposure to system integrations, release management, and application support.
- Experience supporting business users and resolving platform-related incidents.
- Knowledge of HR, Payroll, Talent Management, Recruitment, Learning, or Workforce Management processes would be advantageous.
