Purpose:

Responsibilities

  • Manage the electricity meter installation and meter maintenance processes performed in all Depots
  •  Manage projects within the Project Management sub-section
  • Provide overall direction for management of the Metering and Electrical Installation section
  •  Manage processes that ensure Energy Department revenue stream is optimized
  • Manage installation and maintenance of prepayment meters, conventional meters and AMR metering in the Depots
  • Manage Capital and Operational Budgets of Metering and Electrical installation section
  •  Manage revenue based capital budget allocations made to the metering and electrical installations section
  •  Manage and provide strategic direction to develop, drive, implement and monitor effectiveness of customer education activities, campaigns and community projects
  •  Ensure that all electrical installations connected to the municipal grid complies with electrical regulations and by-laws
  • Ensure that projects are managed in accordance with best practice methodologies and in line with policies and procedures
  •  Lead and manage direct and indirect teams by providing a meaningful context, setting performance standards and educating on policies and processes
  •  Execute Governance and Risk Management, Council policies and municipal by-laws to ensure effective revenue protection and legal compliance
  •  Comply with legislation and organisational policy to effectively contribute towards meeting organisational objectives
  • Ensure compliance with the Batho Pele principles, maintain good customer relations and efficient and productive service delivery
  •  Provide effective and efficient management to maintain a high level of productivity

Job Requirements

  •  B Degree in Electrical Engineering (Heavy Current) or Electrical Engineers’ Certificate of Competency
  • ECSA registered
  •  Extensive experience in Municipal Electrical Distribution Network and Metering
  •  5 years’ experience in similar environment

Purpose:

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for various sections to ensure sustainable new electrical infrastructure is created and the existing electrical infrastructure is maintained and refurbished.
  • Apply well developed technical operation and maintenance skills together with critical thinking to contribute to building strategic capability of the Department
  • Manage the distribution business unit to ensure optimum service delivery by minimising losses to Council ‘s electrical networks and inconvenience to customers
  • Manage the business unit’s assets to ensure optimum utilization of personnel, equipment, transport and resources available
  • Manage the business unit’s personnel to ensure optimal utilization of personnel and create an acceptable work ethic and environment
  • Execute administrative functions to ensure proper documentation and record keeping
  • Manage the business unit’s capital, maintenance and refurbishment budgets to ensure that requirements for the business unit are budgeted for and that the capital, operational and refurbishment budgets are utilised efficiently and effectively
  • Ensure compliance with legislation and organisational policies to ensure a high standard of work is delivered and relevant legislative conditions are adhered to
  • Manage customer education and customer service initiatives to ensure a high level of customer satisfaction through the provision of effective service deliver

Job Requirements

  • Electrical Engineer’s Certificate of Competency
  • Relevant NQF Level 7 qualification or equivalent
  • Code EB driver’s license
  • ECSA registered (Pr Eng. / Pr Tech Eng. / Pr Cert Eng.)
  • 8 years’ experience in the operation, maintenance and refurbishment of municipal electrical distribution networks or a similar environment

Purpose:

Responsibilities

  • Ensure that all AMR, Smart, Prepayment and Conventional meter installations are installed and maintained to an acceptable standard
  • Audit all metering related processes in area of responsibility, design electricity tariffs and analyse meter related data
  • Provide specialist input into the development and amendment of policy, process and SOPs across the organisation
  •  Apply specialised knowledge in the field of electricity demand and other three phase metering to ensure that ensure that the City of Ekurhuleni metering remains at a very high standard of accuracy and safeguard the income generated by effective metering
  • Apply specialised engineering knowledge to enable Energy dept to effectively deal with metering and tariff related disciplines
  • Comply with legislation and organisational policy to effectively contribute towards meeting organisational objectives
  • Ensure that financial administration delivery process comply with governance standards and legislative requirement to prevent financial losses
  • Build and maintain relationships with customers, internal and external stakeholders that promotes cross functional process delivery solutions
  • Provide effective and efficient people management to maintain a high level of productivity
