Job Advert SummaryThe position will lead the development and implementation of the organisation’s data science initiatives, leveraging advanced analytics and machine learning techniques to help the organisation understand and mitigate its risk exposures.The Data Scientist will play a pivotal role in executing the organisation’s data strategy and transforming data into critical information useful to make sound business decisions by means of predictive modelling.The candidate will be expected to utilise data mining, data manipulation and consolidation techniques on large structured and unstructured data sets and utilise machine learning techniques to develop predictive analytics models in an insurance environment.
Minimum RequirementsMinimum Qualifications:Bachelor’s degree (Quantitative Management/Computer Science/Statistics/Applied Statistics/Applied Mathematics or related).Postgraduate degree in the abovementioned fields preferable.Minimum Experience:5-8 years practical experience in an analytical/quantitative environment.Insurance knowledge and experience will be an added advantage.Please note that preference will be given to people with disabilities.
Duties and Responsibilities1. Operational DeliveryInvolvement in engagement with stakeholders to understand their business challenges and advise on practical analytics solutions.Collaborate with key stakeholders within the data value chain, external and internal, to ensure that the appropriated data sources and data structures are in place for building analytics solutions.Research, develop and implement appropriate statistical / mathematical / machine learning models as needed.Keep up to date with latest technology trends.Communicate results and ideas to key decision makers.To generate and maintain data assets and utilize these to develop descriptive analytics and predictive models.Use advanced analytics techniques to solve business problems in cooperation with business.Seek out initiatives to enhance Sasria’s capability in the data science field.2. Business focused collaborationContribute to the successful achievement of Sasria’s vision, strategy and business plan, by assisting with the resolution of problems that pose a threat to the Company of not achieving its vision, strategy and business plan.Responsible for considering key risks and broad based solutions for a number of key projects / issues within Sasria.Engage and facilitate discussions between claims, underwriting and finance departments providing insight into trends emerging from reserving and capital modelling activities.3. Strategic InvolvementContribute to Sasria’s long term strategy and short-term business plan.Contribute to the Business Intelligence strategy and departmental plans.4. Job Advert SummaryThe Committee Secretary will assist in the facilitation and administration of Committee Secretariat duties in the company as outlined in the Companies Act, Governance Codes, and Prescripts and as guided by PFMA and other relevant regulations. Provide for the proper recording of minutes in relation to the Board Committees, Executive Committee and other Management Committee meetings.Recording of conflict of interest declarations at meetings.
Minimum RequirementsMinimum Qualifications:3 Year diploma / law degree / and or studying toward CIS.Minimum Experience:3 – 4 years relevant experience in a Secretariat Environment.*Please note that preference will be given to people with disabilities.
Duties and Responsibilities1. Meeting ManagementDevelopment of the annual meeting plan. Provide for the proper recording of minutes in relation to the Board Committees, Executive Committee and other Management Committee meetings.Recording of conflict of interest declarations at meetings.Follow up on signature of meeting minutes and filing of signed committee minutes.Ensure the correct constitution of the governance structures of the company including the Executive Committee and other Management Committees.Participate in assessment of the effectiveness of the board, Committee structure and that of Management Committees.Ensure meetings have quorum and reschedule if required.2. Compliance with regulations and other governance codesAdherence to CIPC, FSB and National Treasury compliance dates.Facilitation of performance assessment of relevant committees and committee members, where applicable.Requesting information for reporting to the relevant regulatory bodies.3. Query referralsAttending to queries in relation to Board Committees and related compliance issues.Processing secretariat queries.Delivering queries to the appropriate person to resolve.4. Ad hoc DutiesPerform any reasonable task as and when required by Manager.
